I don't have any argument with Divine healing. I have a problem with so-called "faith" healers. All healing is divine, even at the hands of physicians and surgeons.

    Cheers,

    Carolyn --

Is it not so that we spend so much of our time in
reeducating ourselves and in shucking all those
errant teachings, that it seems endless? I
understand. That search for Truth goes on and on.

I think that it depends upon what YOU, specifically,
were taught regarding healing. What was the
process? What was used? Were certain words
used? Was healing dependant upon these things?
Did you have to be in a certain place with certain
people? What was discounted as not helpful in
the process? Etc. These could be the baggage
you may carry that does not match up to the Word.

Certainly, our Lord went about, healing. Certainly,
if He is still Lord and alive, He is still capable of
    healing.

I was taught that you can be healed because you are IN HIM (Christ) and you are walking IN him. And if you totally believe then you or whoever will be healed, becasue it is not in Gods plan for us to be sick or suffer.
We laid hands, annointed with oil, spoke in tounges, etc......
Now I think what about all these great Christian Strong Christan people I know who die? And I read in Job how he allowed all those things and someone else he allowed, but I can't remember at this moment.
And many other things, that I find to appear to not be true. Anyone who can help. Thanks!

One verse that comes to mind is James 5:14f....Is any among you ill? Let him call the pastor of the church, annoint with oil and pray over him in the name of the Lord.....the prayer of faith shall heal him........

Some have claimed this verse guarantees a healing, but healing is always the prerogative of the Lord. He may have other reasons for a given illness,,,,as in Job....and His will will be done.

Perhaps the healing is in one's relationship with the Lord and even in illness the Lord is praised and the ill one blessed.

It is strange how many so-called faith healers, who claim your faith will heal you, wear glasses and use hearing aids, heart pace makers and other medical devices.

    Cheers,

    Jim

ok, so I am trying to understand. I knwo that there have been many things where I have been misled which makes me very angry..... but what about the oil? Do you use oil??? Should you???
They would say that if you did get sick that is was the Holy Spirit revealing himself to you (can't spell and cant find a dictionary!) so that you could walk this out in him.
    Any scriptures on this?

It's God Who heals. He may use individuals but the way "healing" is practiced in pentecostal circles by and large isn't scriptural.

My belief is that God physically heals whom He will, and for His divine purpose. I do not believe His Will is dependent on our faith. Consider the beggar in Acts 3. Being lame from birth, he was carried to the gate of the temple daily to beg alms from those entering. Peter and John passed by, and the lame man asked them for money. And this is what happened:

Notice that Peter did not say to the beggar, "If you will only have faith, you will be healed." I think this tends to call the doctrine of the faith healers into question.
