The Scriptures: Beginning or End?

How about the ONLY statndard. The beginning and the end. And everything in between. God is the creator of all things. He is also the final judge of all things. Why would his word be any different ?

"...the word WAS God". John 1:1
"And the word was made flesh..."John 1:14

Revelation 1:8 I am Alpha and omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.

Revelation 1:11 Saying, I am Alpha and omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.

Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Revelation 22:13 I am Alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

I'm responding without knowing the exact context of the statement. But the verse that comes to mind is I Corinthians 13:11,12. "When I was a child, I used to speak as a child, think as a child, reason as a child; when I became a man, I did away with childish things. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known."

Of course, we need to remember this even here. The greatest gift is love!

In the beginning God created,,,,,,

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God.

The scriptures are the beginning and the end of faith, and that source of faith is God in Christ, the Word.

We cannot isolate faith from either the source (God) or the Word (Christ) as it is revealed in the word (Bible).

Sorry jumped the gun... Helen had a post going on theistic evolution... Read a few of the points and answered my question... I agree with everthing that has been said and would like to add one of my favorite scriptures...

Hebrews 12:[1] Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

[2] Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The scripture states Jesus is both... The author... And finisher of our faith... All according to the will, purpose, and plan of God!... Brother Glen

 

Jesus was often at odds with the church leaders of the time, whose noses were so buried in scripture that scripture was useless. He tells them they're so busy discerning signs of heaven that the signs of the times pass them by without recognition.

So, too, it should be with us. That's why I say that scripture is the beginning of faith, not the end. We too often use scripture's healing tool as a cure-all. What makes scripture the living word is not the printed text. It's the Holy Spirit that that guides us via the messages within the printed text.

I think it is always important to remember that the word became flesh, not book. If we leave faith at scriptural revelation, then application is impossible. It takes the ongoing interaction of God, who is revealed in scripture, with the Christian through the Spirit.

Unfortunately in our instant world...we insist that the bible "make sense" to us too quickly.

what i find most interesting is the subtraction of a required ingredient.

Personal faith in the character of God, to believe, He Will accomplish what He HAS Planned.

and personal knowledge of who God is to ourself, as individuals, and to his creation.
...Which is Infinite and Eternal Love.

Then we can go to the scriptures to find agreement or disagreement.
