    Hello! [IMG]
    I've got a question.
JESUS...in the Greek...what does it mean exactly?
I have seen over time, various translations.
Some simply, "Savior" (which is what I prefer but am not sure of)
    or "God Saves"
    or "Lord Who Saves"
or various other translations that are similar.

If someone here really knows the Greek and can tell me, I would so greatly appreciate it. [IMG]
    Thank you!

y'hoshua (there is no "j" in Hebrew or Greek) is a contraction for YHWH (pet/personal name of God) and yeshua which means deliverance or saving

    God is my salvation.

Probably the MOST COMMON name in Israel at the time of our Lord, since every mother prayed that HER SON would be the Savior/Deliver of the nation from the tyranny of Rome.

And especially if she found herself pregnant and unmarried and claimed she was the Alma of Isaiah 7.

"IESUS" is the Greek version of the Hebrew "Y'Heshua", or "Joshua". Whether it be Greek or Hebrew, the meaning is the same: "God Saves".
