It doesn't make sense

It doesn't make sense that God would give us a perfect Bible in the original manuscripts and then allow His perfect Bible to go to rot and as a result we have imperfect Bibles in a multitude of modern versions. Is God that stupid?

    Amen, Brother Pioneer. [IMG]

That is exactly why i believe that
    all English versions (including all
three of the main KJVs) contain the
    inspired, God Breathed, human penned,
written Word of God. (I also believe
in the LIVING WORD OF GOD which is
    Jesus, the Christ.)

    The basics of Fundamentalism are:

    1. the inspiration and infallibility of Scripture
    2. the diety of Christ
    3. the substitutinary atonement of Christ's death
    4. the literal resurrection of Christ from the dead
    5. the literal return of Christ in the Second Advent

Any teaching that goes beyond these fundamentals,
is not fundamentalism, but something else.

    Please note the first one:
"the inspiration and infallibility of Scripture".

I know some want to limit "Scripture" to one form
of one book but fundamentally speaking, we
should not limit scripture to one book.
Some are wont to limit "Scripture" to some
unavailable "autographs", but we know God in
His Divine Providence wants the scripture to be
available in a language the individual priest-before-God
    can read.

So then, I belive that all scripture containing
English books (KJV1873, NASB, NLT, NKJV, etc)
are inspired and infallibile. Amen? [IMG]

I suppose there is no chance that you misunderstand things.

First, it is not God who is stupid.
Second, if you study the Scriptures without the KJVO sensationalism and guilttrip doctrine, you would not be KJVO.
Third, I used to be KJVO. I studied the KJV passages on preservation. By the Lord's mercies, I am no longer KJVO.

Here is the real question: if preservation is true (using the KJVO understanding), where are the original manuscripts that we all agree God actually did inspire?

It doesn't make sense to call God stupid because you don't agree with what he did. I think that is a very unwise and unfortunate use of terms. I think it would be appropriate to remove that remark. What "makes sense" to you is not the standard of truth. And questioning God's intelligence does not fall within the purview of human responsibility.

God created man KNOWING that this man would, of his own free will, sin and rebel against God. THAT doesn't make sense. Was God that stupid?

God created a perfect earth KNOWING that man would sin and turn Eden into a nightmare that would have to be destroyed by a flood. THAT doesn't make sense. Was God that stupid?

God sent His perfect sinless Son and he ended up nailed to a cross to die! THAT doesn't make sense, either. Was God that stupid?

It is not God, my friend, that is stupid, is it?

Wow, and I am still waiting for you to answer my question on the other thread....

Each of those illustrations is a demonstration of the love of God. Can you honestly say that having a multitude of imperfect Bibles is also a demonstration of the love of God? I doubt it very much.

Ah, your bias is showing slightly! "Imperfect Bibles" - and who, pray tell, are you to tell me that the English translation I am using is "imperfect"?

I use one that translates some words VERY POORLY, that adds words when the Greek has none, and shows theological bias toward a state church, infant baptism, and a number of other grievious pitfalls.

My English Bible has been changed in thousands of places more than one hundred times since it was written. And you talk about "imperfect" Bibles!

That sort of vain arrogance and mock superiority gets "onlies" into serious trouble.

    Wonderful scripture! [IMG]
Says to me i aught not limit
God to one and only one English Bible.
    Fortunately, i believe the ungarnished
written word of God abides PERFECT in each
and every English version. Though I must
admit I don't have access to a Geneva Bible [IMG]

Modern version advocates keep repeating that there is no such thing as a perfect Bible. So they must be all imperfect. A perfect God giving us imperfect Bibles. Sounds like mixed up logic to me. I don't see any where in the scriptures that God expects me to ignore plain common sense. Plain common sense tells me that a perfect God (who requires 100% obedience to His word - Matt. 4:4) gave us a perfect Bible and that he also preserved His perfect Bible for all generations to read and obey (Psalm 12:6,7).

Huh? Could you explain, please? I am not the one that limits God to Elizabethan English, you are. And if you say that I tempt God, I would like for you to explain how.

I am sorry that you don't like Isaiah 55:8-9.

You limit Him in His ability to preserve us a perfect, infallible, inerrant Bible;simple enough for you??
Those are fine verses;but what does that have to do with this discussion??? [IMG]

MV-neverist: "You limit Him in His ability to preserve
    us a perfect,infallible,inerrant Bible;simple enough
    for you??"

I believe in putting a space after a comma.
    This makes the statement:
You limit Him in His ability to preserve us a perfect,
infallible, inerrant Bible; simple enough for you??

I believe that God has preserved for this
generation the Contemporary English Version (CEV).
The CEV contains a perfect, infallible, inerrant Bible:
    the written word of God.

We're doing a lot of talking "past" each other, with both sides accusing the other of things they do not believe. Let's pick it up a notch or two, okay?
