Just curious about those who are anti-capital punishment and what they think should be done with Jacko.

I have a few suggestions, but this is a public forum.

Interesting, I must have missed when America changed its policy to "guilty until proven guilty".

It's also a baptist forum. That should provide at least a pretense of Christian love. Besides, as Brian indicated, the case against him hasn't even been tried yet.

I agree with GB and BT. I am NO Jackson fan, but do not know that he is guilty, if he is then the courts need to act accordingly - but "how about a few thousand volts"???

People, assuming he is guilty. Don't make me hold your hand while we post.

For myself I would wonder why the parents would place their child within the grasp of a known pedophile. The parents are also culpable.

The man needs to be held accountable for his actions, and should learn that there are consequences for devience.

Daniel, do you mean like if there was no question of his guilt, like if he was caught "in the very act" (John 8:4)?

If he is guilty, then there are proper punishments for him. Death is not an option for molestation. I heard yesterday that he has several counts against him, and each one carries 3-9 years, they will probably be concurrent, they rarely do consecutive(sp?)anymore unless there are many victims, and several charges per each vicitm.

Actually,

I was thinking we could let him take another stab at that Pepsi Commercial he tried back in the 80's with no paramedics. ;) [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

This is coming from a guy who was a big Jackson fan as a kid in the Thriller era.

First, becore punishing him, let him be tried in a court. If, and only if, he's found guilty, let him be punished.

That being said, he's being charged with child molestation. The penalty for child molestation is jailtime of up to four years.

The law in California is as follows:

216.5

a) Unlawful sexual intercourse is an act of sexual intercourse accomplished with a person who is not the spouse of the perpetrator, if the person is a minor. For the purposes of this section, a "minor" is a person under the age of 18 years and an "adult" is a person who is at least 18 years of age.
(b) Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is not more than three years older or three years younger than the perpetrator, is guilty of a misdemeanor.
(c) Any person who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is more than three years younger than the perpetrator is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony, and shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment in the state prison.
(d) Any person 21 years of age or older who engages in an act of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor who is under 16 years of age is guilty of either a misdemeanor or a felony, and shall be punished by imprisonment in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by imprisonment in the state prison for two, three, or four years.
(e) [This section outlines civil liability penalties, and is lengthy, so I won't include them here]

According to the newspaper tonight, he has flown the coop. Authorities were waiting for him Wednesday but he jumped on his private jet, did not file a flight plan and vamoosed.

No one knows where he is. <surprise>

Waste of time Bryan. The American way is guilt by newsprint, and hang 'em high!

And had anyone cared, as Christians ought, it would be known that he SURRENDERED himself and was soon released on bail.

Cheers,

Jim

Actually I've always wondered why any responsible parent would let their child keep company with Jackson... I mean at best he's probably a bad influence... and at worst he's a pedophile... Really sad...

Michael Jackson has never in anyway ever been proven to be a peodophile. To state that that is the case is defamation of charcter which you can be rightfully sued for.

The Facts are that Michael Jackson is innocent. The public prosecutor will make his case against him and it will be decided fairley in a court of law.

The recent Michal Jackson special on TV certainley did its best to paint him in a negative light. Yet go looking and you will find that the chap that did the show is no saint either, particulry in the way that the show was put together in order to maximise publicity.

In the first instance that allegations were made, it was never stated what it was for. Yes a payout was made, and the sad thing about it is that is how the legal system works, people sue whoever and whatever on any technicality that a lawyer can find to get money out of anyone. Its likely that Michael Jacksons Lawyers took the least publicity way out and paid out on it.

It is my opionion that Michael Jackson is an easy target because of this and I hope that he gets the opportunity to make his case in a fair trial.

I would also note that the media are blowing this up to simply sell papers and get people watching the news. What is the real story here, not what the media are reputing, but what are the actual facts?

I would say that Michael Jackson is one of the best ever singers in the entertainment industry. His stuff is original and well thought out. He has considerably more musical talent than most performers. He supports many charities and puts his money where his mouth is speaking out about racism.

Actually his sister Janet is an amazing singer also. I wish the Jackson Family band would get back together.

MJ = could be guilty or innocent. Time may or may not tell.

The 12 yr old kid= could be a liar, a naive gay boy put into a bad situation, or a strait boy who was raped. Time may or may not tell.

The parents of the kid = Guilty of putting their child in danger whether it happened or not and should have their child taken away and they be sent to prison for allowing their kid to sleep over with a 45 year old man. It's called child endangerment. And in any outcome, the boy's life will still be haunted with this public episode forever.... thanks to the parents stupidity.

Huh? He surrendered to the authorities this morning, and was booked. He posted bail and was released pending trial.

Suspicion in our office is that its Geordie Chandler all over again. Remember the son of the Hollywood Dentist who got millions in an out of court settlement after accusing Jacko?

One colleague was saying that that could not happen again as the Californian Law has been changed to prevent similiar occurences of accuse then settle out of court.

Anyone know if this is true ?

I agree that the parents should be tried for allowing their son to sleep over with a man with that type of allegation previously levelled.

Given those previous allegation/s Jackson was extremely foolish in pursuing the 'all in one bed' policies.

Does J have no real friends who'll take him aside and read the riot act to him for this stupidity ?

What a world ! Will be good when Jesus returns to clean up the mess !

I don't know if the law was changed after this, but I do know that the law limits civil penalties when the cause of action is molestation, due to abuses in civil litlgation.
