    2 interesting details.

    Apparently Mel switched to using subtitles, something he didn't want to do at first. Originally he intended to do the whole film in Aramaic and latin without subtitles.

    [​IMG] For those of you who don't know her. Anna Catharina Emmerich was a 19th century German nun, who apparently had visions of the lives of Jezus and his mother. Peculiar source material to say the least. :eek:

    Mel Gibson says he attended Mass every morning while shooting his new movie, The Passion, because "we had to be squeaky clean just working on this."

    So going to Mass washes away sin. I'm sure this film will be a heavy dose of RC.

    Ofcourse it will be, Mel is very RC.
    The simple fact that the film is about those last 12 hours leading up to the death of Jezus on the Cross is in itself a very Roman Catholic choiche. [​IMG]

    Hmmmm. Mel might be RC; but it sure sounds like he is saved to me. I think we will all be surprised at some of the people we meet in Heaven, as well as some we don't...

    To hear that Agnostics and Muslims are turning to Christianity just from being on the Set is an amazing testimony of Mel Gibson. I can not wait to see this film.

    Mr. Gibson is beyond a doubt a loyal Roman Catholic. He follows the conservative/traditional school of Roman Catholic thought and practice. As for his speaking of the Holy Spirit's "leading", let us obey Scripture and try the spirits to find their origin. It was noted above that the movie is not based directly on The Word but in part on the work of Anne Catherine Emmerich. So, for the moment, let us examine the facts of the case and lay hands on no man suddenly.

    I'm sure if Mel had said "I attended worship with my Baptist congregation every day; we had to be squeaky clean just working on this", then this wouldn't be an issue.

    It's only an issue of you're Catholic. :rolleyes:

    Considering the Dogma of the Roman Catholic Church on the functions of the Mass, yes, it is an issue.

    We're not exactly clean ourselves. We tell people they're not really baptized if they were baptized as infants, and that, even if they were adults, that their baptism isn't valid unless they're immersed. :confused:

    That's not a biblical doctrine, that's Baptist doctrine. We're far from perfect when it comes to throwing stones.

    John, the principle that immersion of a believer is the only valid form of what is termed "baptism" is a bedrock distinctive of Baptists and others who hold to a baptistic philosophy. As the Roman Catholics and others give other meanings to the word, we are within our rights to disagree with them. Simply put we hold that the anointment of an infant in some religious sacrament cannot come close to being considered a valid "baptism". Just because someone uses the same vocabulary as I use, it doesn't mean they are using the same dictionary I use. (The classic example for me is the word "peace". Think of how you would define the word. Now, think of how a Marxist-Leninist would define the word. Same word but different definitions.)

    I think the movie will be worth a look. I just wonder if maybe Mel could have done something similar when filming the Lethal Weapon series etc. Seems Colossians 3:8 etc was missing from them.
