Do y'all ever get tired???

    Do you all ever get tired of the constant battle against temptation? Do you ever have days when you just feel like throwing in the towel because satan is just a-hammerin' away at you non-stop?

    I mean it's the same @#$! things everyday. But oh no, it's even more than that. Just as you dodge one firey(?) dart, here comes another one. And just as you raise your shield against that one, LOOK OUT, it's yet another one, flying your way. Then finally, your day is over; you crawl into bed, thankful the grace that got you through the day, but as soon as your feet hit the floor the very next morning, the attack starts all over again, with the exact same temptations you just faced the day before.

    It's almost like that movie, Groundhog Day, where you relive the same day over and over and over and...oh, you get my point. It's darn frustrating is what it is.

    I know our battle is not against flesh and blood, and all that, but sometimes having a flesh and blood opponent to throw a punch at would do a world of good (well, for me anyway).

    Anyway, these are just the ramblings of someone who has gone one too many rounds with the devil (and my wife, and the landlord) today, so you will have to excuse me, and maybe toss up a prayer for me as well.

    Yes sir. Sometimes it's like swimming against a riptide. It's a struggle just to stay afloat.

    Thank God (that doesn't even begin to come close to what I want to say) for His grace !!

    We're here for a little while longer.
    May His grace and strength abound toward you everyday.

    Lol...I'm tired right now.

    I get tired everyday fighting against the temptations of procrastination, lust, evil, slander, untruth, bargining, compromising, inconsideration, meaness, nastiness, condescension, arrogrance, terseness, impatience, exasperation, forgetfullness, and a whole slew of other energy zapping things.

    Then I remember Romans 7:14-25.

    I thank God that Christ was man.

    I'll tarry own...but yeah...I do get tired...dog tired sometimes...but I'm content, and I keep going. [​IMG]

    My Sunday Superintendent called me tonight and asked me to take over tomorrow because he's sick.

    I'm tired AND emergingly sick right now...but I'll be there in the morning on time.

    The Fight Goes On Even If the Soldiers Are Worn.

    I get tired too. But I try to remember that if I wasn't jerking a knot in Satan's tail...he would not be bothering me. So, I conclude that I must be doing something right! [​IMG]

    Hey HeDied4U-

    You have just described the predicament of every Christian that has ever lived or will ever live.

    We ALL struggle with sin. Personal sin. Some days are easy and we feel like skip-a-dee-doo-daing down the road and some days are VERY, VERY hard and we feel like that prodigal son wallowing in the pig trough, unable to get out from under the filth.

    My advice? Take care of the problem in the mornings.

    When you wake up in the morning, before you even open your eyes or throw back the covers, commit the day and your thoughts and your actions to the glory of God.

    And don't pick up yesterday's ugliness and sin and put in back in your brain and heart. That's like putting on yesterday's underwear!! We wouldn't dare think of doing that. Yet why is it that in the cleanliness and newness of God's gift of a fresh, new morning, we will "put back on" the vileness of yesterday's sin.

    We all do it and we all suffer for it.

    YES! i wish i could just go ahead and DIE already.....
    can you imagine what it will be like having no desire at all to sin? heaven truly will be heaven for me [​IMG]

    Some deacons and church members can be a challenge. Some fellow pastors take them to the golf course and each time they tee off or whack a ball, they name that ball.sort of physical revenge.

    I don't golf, but early in my ministry, I would write my problems and difficulties on a note pad, read what I wrote and then chuck it in the woodstove or dustbin. Then start a new day.a take on letting not the sun go down on one's wrath.

    Sure, I think we all get tired. But that's why we are here, to glorify God in our life including the trials and tribulations, learn from the lessons we are given and then go home.

    I'm sure that most of us would love to just go home and skip the lessons. But that would be cheating.

    Hello, I am new on here and I just wanted to say that I have those days too. The scriptures that get me through are Psalm 23 and 91.

    I am Blessed 16...said it wonderfully and that is that if you were not doing something right there would be no trials. As Christians we have to be mindful of our thoughts and what we say because temptations come from our own sinful desires (James 1:12-16) and remembering God's Word will help us resist it. (Proverbs 7:1-5)

    I always remind myself that I am living in a world where God is not given the praise for His many blessings, where people value money, status, and power, and that there is a generational lack of knowledge around me. So when things arise and negative energy tries to surround me I pray hard right then and there for the restraint and proper guidance that I need to do the right thing.

    Salvation is a neverending journey...!

    John 16, last part of verse 33 says - In the world ye shall have tribulation : but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    Ever wonder why God uses repetition to teach us? Look at His word. Repetition. It's been said that the key to learning is repetition.

    So if you are faced with the same temptations repetitiously...you haven't learned what you need to and you'll keep being faced with those temptations until you do.
