I don't post too much in the BV forum anymore because there isn't any point in it. No one really wants to admit they 'might' be wrong and therefore have to change. It seems that no one wants to have a clear, intelligent light-shedding discussion of the issues. At one time there was talk of shutting down the forum and I was against it, however now I am beginning to think that might be a good idea, at least for a little while.

If someone came along and was an honest seeker of the truth concerning bible versions, I am not even sure they would find the help they ought to here.

I hope it stays open.. look what shutting down the C Vs A forum done to the "Baptist Theology and Bible Study" forum. I used to post some in there, but now it is overran by C vs A!

If the BV forum was shut down, the issue would pop up somewhere else. Let's keep it open to keep the other forums clean....
Also, mods and Admins. I would appreciate a C vs A forum again.. not that I would want to post, but to clean up the Bible study forum.

Gentlemen, I agree with you. It gets too ugly in here, from all sides.

If you don't like the forum, stay off of it! But don't censor those who like it and wish to participate.

tinytim, you're probably right on that.

I guess I would just appreciate some more "heavy-handed" moderation.

My problem isn't with the forum . . . it's with the vicious attacks within the forum.

Never said I didn't like it. Just don't see what is being accomplished other than some literary blood shedding and polite cussing (and impolite, at times).

It's not like I want to see it shut down, I would just like to see some HONEST, THOUGHTFUL, SCRIPTURAL intercourse that would motivate me in my service for the Lord rather than make me shake my head and say, 'Here we go again....'

I agree - we would all like to see that. But too often those with agendas on both sides of one particular issue feel like each and every thread must be derailed to suit their purposes.

Unfortunately the rancor is spreading to
    several other Forums.

    2Ti 2:15 (Geneva Bible, 1585):
Studie to shewe thy selfe approued vnto God, a workeman that needeth not to be ashamed, diuiding the worde of trueth aright.

How on earth can you have "HONEST, THOUGHTFUL, SCRIPTURAL intercourse that would motivate me in my service for the Lord rather than make me shake my head and say, 'Here we go again....'" when we are constantly confronted with dishonest, evasive, accusational KJVO who refuse to allow anything honest to take place? They make claims, and want everyone to stand by while a lie is told.

Forgive me if I couldnt care less about being "nice" in that instance. When someone is simply mistaken, it is my experience that such mistakes are lovingly and biblically corrected. I only witness hostility towards repeat and knowing offenders.

Please explain to me how on earth you feel the recent treatment of the topic on Revelation 17:8 by the KJVO of this board to be anything resembling honest? If you can do that, then you are a much better man than I.

As I have said before, if and when posts appear that do not fit the description of reasoned debate were ignored the poster would run out of ammunition.

Well... I think that the BV hostility is simply a ploy by C4K.

You see, I was told by someone who was "sharing prayer requests" that C4K gets commission based on the number of threads he closes. I think we all need to "pray about that." I'd hate to see him backslide because of how much money he's making now as a moderator.

I plan on being REALLY NICE to C4K so that he'll tithe off of his "thread closing commission" toward our new building at my church.

I'm sorry, but that is some classic misdirection.

    DD,

I can appreciate your frustration. But once you learn you can't nail jello to the wall, you best stop trying. If you keep on trying you just frustrate yourself and waste jello. C4K had some wise advice above.

So the alternative is to allow false information to just sit here unconfronted?

Isnt that why the Mormon church is so big now?

I do not see the virtue in that. I see virtue in making people responsible for false information. It appears that the "baptist" way is not so resolved.

Now you are aiming your fire at your friends DD.

Some posts are so without reason that they do not merit a response. Responding only adds fuel to the fire and results in degeneration of the debate.

C4K, I am not meaning to fire at friends. Am I wrong to expect baptist to stand up for truth? I think you would say no.

I know that some posts warrant no response, and they often get just that. I am talking about blatant false information, false claims, and flat out lies in which the poster refuses to offer any evidence, documentation, or reason for these claims.

This has NOTHING TO DO with the actual KJVO debate. This is about honesty. I consider it to be the most important virtue a Christin can possess. I find it hard to accept a fellow believer who cannot tell the truth. I do not feel I am wrong in that, but perhaps I am?

I may not be stating my case well, but I hope you understand it anyway. My understanding is that Baptists take BIBLICAL TRUTH over all else. Am I wrong? If so, please educate me as to what on earth could have the same weight as biblical truth.

If not, then willingly posting false information, then refusing to address it, can have nothing to do with Christ or the Bible. Am I wrong here?
