Should men wear pants only?

None of these say anything about clothes Christian women should wear in particular, or that it's because it causes men to lust.
The modest manner is "not with gold, or pearls, or costly array", not with ankle length skirts only. It only mentions accessories and cost of clothing. This is meant for Christian women and is emphasizing that true beauty is not in the cost of your clothes, but in your Christian spirit and attitude.
Discreet, chaste, keepers at home. Huh? What's this have to do with length of skirt or not wearing pants?
Next you list a verse about a woman with the attire of a harlot. In every culture/country a harlot has certain attire. Some are even modest according to Christian standards, but it's known what they are. So...if harlots wear black jeans and blue t-shirts in your city, you might not want to. But...what does this passage have to do with teaching modesty? Attire includes accessories. Maybe she was wearing a golden H necklace.
Next, David saw someone taking a bath and lusted. Are you saying we should dress modestly while bathing on our rooftops? [IMG]
NONE of these verses give any standard or measure of what modest clothing is or that women should wear such and such type of clothing in order to prevent lust.
I'm not a harlot and don't wear the clothes of harlots, I don't bathe nekkid on my roof, and see absolutely nothing in these verses that tell me pants are wrong. I doubt even the harlot was in jeans! Wasn't the punishment for one back them to have to gather up her skirts and stand there ashamed? It's hard to gather up jeans or miniskirts or culottes! [IMG]

Depends. There's some really stinky flowers out there!
I would rather have a man smell like a flower than like sweat, but I'll go with the third option. Zest soap. No flowers. Cologne is icky for the most part. Curve for men is ok. Polo stinks. Other than that...ZEST!

Gina, when I was a boy (long time ago) the men in our family used Ivory or Lava soap.

I don't know what Lava smells like today but my mother made me use it and I always thought I smelled like a washed floor after a bath.

Actually my post was a bit tongue-in-cheek if you hadn't guessed.

    I like Dial/Old Spice.

    Compare those two verses..... NOW...

Purple cloth was VERY costly in Biblical times. The color purple was derived from crushed snails.....

Linen was a sign of luxury.

Tapestry was used in many 'ugly' ways.

So what I see is the same cloth being worn by harlots and women of virtue, male prostitutes, used to adorn idols and to mock Christ.

Seems to me, it's all in the 'wearing' and presentation instead of the cloth, color and cost.

Well, sort of on topic--I'm sure to dress my little boy (who's turning 19 months) in boys' clothes. He has blue curtains in his room and either Bob the Builder or Sesame Street sheets on his toddler bed. His toy box, with Snoopy on it, is blue, green, and yellow.

I guess you could say I'm trying to establish "gender identity" early on. I don't let his hair get too long, either--he was born with a lot of hair which did not fall out, but kept on growing.

I like putting him in striped shirts and overalls. Basically I make sure there's no question as to what gender.

Now here's the funny part: TWICE within a couple of weeks the same cashier at Wal-Mart complimented me on a beautiful little girl! On top of that, she said my son had beautiful blue eyes...one problem with that--they're brown! [IMG]

Then again I've heard of someone who had a little girl all dressed up in a frilly dress and someone thought she was a boy....

    Just rambling here... [IMG]

Oh yeah I wanna add something scandalous.

One time I was on the bus coming home from band camp, waaayyyy back when I was in high school (class of 91 so you know how far back)...there was this guy at a phone at a rest stop. He was wearing biker shorts SO snug you could see EVERYTHING! It outlined him so well, he might as well have had nothing at all!

    I was like, um, okaaayyyyy....

I think some people are just really dumb. I had my oldest dressed up and at the grocery store when she was only a few months old. I had her in a pink dress loaded with white lace, about 3 layers of it, white socks with lace and pink shoes, white bonnet edged with pink satin, and got a comment from the cashier on my handsome son!
    I was ticked!

Personally I think that men who dress up in a frock should be arrested by the fashion police [IMG]

When I used to race mountain bikes, I was scared of how I looked in those brightly colored, skin tight clothes. YIKES!!!!

I do wear tank tops, and sleeveless shirts, on occasion.

My dad wore his kilt to my sister's wedding, and my grandma's funeral, and he looked very masculine and handsome in it. Nobody could look at him and think feminine.

Know why he calls it a kilt ? 'Cuz he "kilt" the last guy to call it a dress.

Nope. [IMG] They should also wear shirts.

Honestly, maybe something is wrong with me but I don't notice men's bodies. I will notice a nicely dressed man or a man who has a kind spirit and big smile.

You know what attracted me to my husband first? I noticed his hands. He was doing a good deed for someone and I saw his hands... and thought... Those hands are going to protect me and keep me safe... And then we were introduced.

I prefer it when men wear pants. Men who wear dresses just creep me out.

A man should not wear tank tops. The men and the women should not expose a lot of skin. Bermuda shorts are fine for men as long as they are below the knee. Material too... should not be clingy but a comfortable material.

Women, dresses with short sleeves are ok, sleevless ones are out, shorts like coulots are fine and also same thing with the material. No cling.

Bathing wear is hard. I usually just stick with a pair of shorts with a tee shirt and a sport bra under.

I was recently at an amusement park and there were a few girl workers who were in charge of running the KIDDIE rides, and they had on shorts so short their buns were hanging down out of them. It was a discusting site and I was embarrassed for them.

Our husbands and wives should be the only ones to see what we have under our clothes. [IMG]

That also happened to me. When my twin girls were babies I used to walk them aot and one time I had on pink frilly dresses, white lace socks and white patent leather shoes, and a small bow in their hair. And someone atopped me to tell me how cute my little "BOYS" were.
That made me furious too! So I said, " Yes, too bad they are "GAY!"

I know, slap me on the hand for being bad!! :D

Women who wear sleeveless tops, dresses, etc. and who have bigger biceps than me give me an inferiority complex! :D

Last Summer we went to the Beach with my extended family for July 4. I'm a little selfconscious about my bulging midriff - It's not bad, I'm 6'1" and around 230 but it's there, you know what I mean?

Anyway, I found some of these old style sleeveless undershirts like my dad and grandpa used to wear in blue and green colors. I'm thinking - this would go with my blue bathing suit,so I bought some and came out on the beach decked out in my blue bathing suit and my colored sleeveless undershirt.

I felt comfortable. My extended family and my wife all made fun of me. "Look at the old fuddy duddy. I didn't care. I was comfortable. So what if I was the only guy on the beach who looked like he came out of the 40's.

BTW - I never owned a leisure suit if that tells you how conservative I am.

You mean what's commonly referred to as a "wifebeater" shirt? :D (Spousal abuse is not funny...but calling a shirt that, well, it's tongue-in-cheek.)

I laugh at all of this. "This is fair, this is unfair"

God has roles for the women and roles for the men. God has rules for how a woman should behave and dress. God has rules for how men should behave and dress.

I think the whole problem here is that because every has different emotional views on the subject of men and women, they find just the right perversion of the Bible to back up their belief and "poof" they "think" the word says it is alright.

All will come to "light" in time. Oh, and HCL, you keep doing what you are doing. The thing that all Christians need to remember is that God has never changed his mind or opinion on anything. He is the same now as He was then and will be in future. Only our opinions and minds have changed. The "world" has found a version of Bible to back up every belief that truly goes against God's Word.
