One obvious between these two versions is that the Geneva reads 'passover' in Acts 12:4 while the AV reads 'Easter'.

Another is that the Geneva's Psalm 12:7 reads 'him' while the AV reads 'them', with a marginal note of explanation.

I don't have the time to sit down and make such a comparison, but perhaps someone here has already done so, using the 1599 Geneva and the AV 1611's best edition. I would like to see such a comparison if one exists or if anyone has time/resources to do it. I'm speaking of comparisons of TEXTS, not the Apocrypha nor the voluminous footnotes of the Geneva.

Now THAT would be a job! :D

Aren't the Geneva and the AV1611 based on the same Greek and Hebrew texts? If so, then I wouldn't think there would be much appreciable difference, but I've been wrong before. [IMG]

(Heb 10:23 KJV) Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;)

(Heb 10:23 GB) And washed in our bodies with pure water, let vs keepe the profession of our hope, without wauering, (for he is faithfull that promised)

(2Co 2:17 KJV) For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

(2Co 2:17 GB) For wee are not as many, which make marchandise of the woorde of God: but as of sinceritie, but as of God in ye sight of God speake we in Christ.

(1Jo 2:23 KJV) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

(1Jo 2:23 GB) Whosoeuer denyeth the Sonne, the same hath not the Father.

(Jam 4:6 KJV) But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

(Jam 4:6 GB) But the Scripture offereth more grace, and therefore sayth, God resisteth the proude, and giueth grace to the humble.

Well, the KJVOs say the AV 1611 & the 1769 KJV are the same, anyway.

There's a feature in Esword that can be used to compare any 2 versions, & the GB & AV are both available for it.(And so is the Bishop's Bible of 1568.) I simply don't have time to do it till at least the middla June.

And I appreciate the fact that so far we've stuck to the OP, & I hope it continues in that spirit, w/o going into our opinions of either version. Let's let the evidence speak for itself.
