I attend PBC, and I love it. I just wondered if there was anyone else here who has been there?

Yes. I graduated from PBC in 1988 and I have many fond memories of the school.

You should see the place now, especially the guys dorm, since they remodelled it last year. It looks really nice. What did you major in?

I am originally from Winston-Salem and have family there, so I get down once or twice a year. I have either been in school (seminary) or teaching school since I graduated from PBC, so have never been able to attend alumni functions. I hope to get down this Oct and would love to see the campus improvements. Have they closed off Franklin Street yet?

I graduated with a Th.B in pastoral studies. Not sure if they still have that program.

God bless you in your studies.

For you or Fish - I visited Piedmont in 1971 so am WAY out of the loop.

    1. What was entailed in that program? (how many credits of each subject area . . )

    2. Not familiar with that degree but assume it comparable to a B.A. or B.S.?

    3. Is PBC accredited, etc?

I am pretty sure PBC is accredited. They are also joining up with a local state college to get accreditation for their education program.

Swaimj, yes, Franklin St. is closed down. It is just a parking lot now for Deed's Hall and Salem Baptist church, and the girl's dorm. I got lost when I first drove down there, cause there was no Franklin St. sign.

I don't think they have a Th.B. degree, but i may be wrong. Their website is www.pbc.edu if you want to check it out more.

Th.B. was a bachelor of theology and required five years to complete. Most the major seminaries (Dallas, BJU, Liberty) accepted the 5th year for seminary credit. I don't remember the breakdown of classes. A few years after I graduated, they did away with the five year degree. Two things brought this about. One, they started an M.A. program. Two, they were getting intense competition for students from big, new, wealthy (and inferior ;) ) schools like Liberty and Pensacola, so they needed to make the time-frame for the completion of bachelors degrees competitive.
    See above.
They are accredited through TRACS and AABC. They were in the process of gaining accreditation through the regional agency a few years back. They dropped out of that process. My understanding is that the board felt that they could not fulfill the demands of the accrediting agency and remain true to the vision of the founder's for the school, so they stopped the process.
