Thats a reasonable throught process - honour your parents is my advice. </font>[/QUOTE]Dr. Stowell in an address on the radio recently stated that the biggest problem they have with students wanting to go on the mission field at Moody Bible Institute is their parents. I have seen that many times myself.

Jesus said, "If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. "Whoever does not carry his own cross and come after Me cannot be My disciple."

Sometimes the Christian life starts lonely and gets lonelier until we understand and know God. But one with God is a majority.

Over the years my dad has shunned me and put me down for being a Christian. I was the first Christian in our family. Since that time most of my family have come to Christ.

My mother in law was antagonistic toward me because of my faith when I married her daughter. When she came to Christ did we ever see a difference! A few years ago she gave us the money to buy a car that was almost new. One day she called and asked to speak with me. She told me she was sending a check to buy a car. She didn't give me any options. She gave us money to help with a downpayment on a home when we even told her we didn't need it. We have never asked her for anything.

God is all we need. His grace is sufficient.

Have you considered Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary? Knew Dr. Allison and others slightly. Dr. Skinner is a great OT prof. This is a solid Bible-believing, Baptist seminary with high academic standards. Great preachers too! Not just the average mumbo-jumbo variety of boring homilies full of academic trivia.

    DH,

I suggest you have a serious, adult talk with your parents. With the kind of music you enjoy, and your feelings about the KJV I do not think it would be a wise decision for you.

Unless you are an exceptional young person it would be VERY difficult for you to submit to their authority with a proper spirit.

Talk to mom and dad with an proper, respectful spirit.

    A possible suggestion (or two).

Ever looked at Tennessee Temple University? I know several who have gone there, and they say it is great. It is not SBC, but I do believe that the church that the campus is in league with (Highland Park Baptist) was at one time, but left back in the sixties over the worldliness of the SBC of the time.

Another option (I am looking at schools local to me) could be Lee University here in Cleveland. It is a Christian liberal arts college, but not Baptist. It is run by the Church of God, Cleveland, TN, but I know many non-CoG who went there. Their sports programs are top notch (no football, though).

Nelson publishes a reference book, Nelson's Complete Guide to Colleges & Universities for Christians. You might want to look into it. I know that Lifeway carries it (or can at least order it, as can most other Christian, or non-Christian, book stores). It runs about $35 at Lifeway, I think. I bought it because our daughter just turned sixteen, and college is coming up fast.

The book is divided by state, and it lists a BUNCH of colleges. It includes religious affliation (if any), tuition, finacial aid/scholarships, enrollment statistics, admission info, campus life info, and special services offered. It includes a cd-rom that has all the information on it, as well.

    I wish you the best!

    In Christ,
    Trotter

    Good thought on TTU.

My wife and I are grads. I would not recommend it to my kids (I am quite conservative [IMG] ), but sounds like a good solution for DH.

Another one in that area is Bryan College in Dayton, TN. Great fundamentalist, non demoninational liberal arts college. Many of thier graduates go on to Dallas Seminary.

Only 600 students or so, and always ranked highly in the Forbes magazine survey of colleges.

I am a PCC Alumnist and there are a few comments I would like to make. First, accreditation is not, and has not been an issue. Students from PCC have been able to get into law/med schools of their choosing at a greater rate than accredited schools. Their education program is the best program in the country. Their nursing students are recruited and paid significant signing bonus' in their senior year.

Second, their rules are just that rules. They expect you to live by them while you are at PCC, and they are there primarily for your protection. Yes, there are some stupid rules. My biggest problem is not the rules, but how they are enforced. They are enforced by primarily the student Floor leaders. However, if you simply decide to live by them, whether you like them or not, you will not have a problem.

Third, the campus church is not a sham as Dr. Bob has declared. It is a church that is primarily made up of staff and students. However, there are approximately 1000 folks that attend the church from the community. They are not your typical church, but I would probably say that we have all types of churches in this forum. I would agree that PCC is not a local church ministry in that the college is not a ministry of the church. I do have a problem with that.

    Fourth,
PCC has taken a stand on the KJV, which I agree with whole-heartedly. I do not agree with the division they have caused by sending out the videos and attacking other institutions. However, with that said, they have taken a stand on an important issue in our time.

    Finally,
The cost of PCC is a little over $5000. They do have other charges that will bring this up closer to $6000 for the year. This is still far less than the average Christian College and a huge difference from a secular school.

    Thank you Pastor J,

While I disagree slightly on your statement on PCC's version stand I admire your courage it laying out the facts.

Think I could email this post to my daughter who is in between her sophomore and junior years there ;) ?
