The scholl is sponsored by the Southside baptist Church of Downington, PA.

The church's statement of faith includes the words, "We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible. I believe that preserved His Word in the KJV of the Bible."

I conclude they are a KJVO church and further conclude the school is also a KJVO school. You may draw your own conclusions from that. I've never heard of the school, but there are tons of schools out there that I've never heard of.

I would write and ask for a school catalog. Check out their accreditation and faculty. There are numerous credible schools available.

 

Their website (http://www.nebaptist.org/) is up and running and there are a couple of things that quickly draw one's attention.

One is they offer a two year degree in church secretarial science for women only. Also, "All "four year students" graduate with a "double major" upon satisfactory completion of the program requirements. Since it is God's Word that equips the Christian for service. (II Timothy 2:15, 3:16,17), every student majors in the Bible plus he/she majors in his/her area of proficiency."

I've never heard of a school that awards a double major without taking additional course work to satisfy the extra major.

They are a KJVO school. Here is a portion of their doctrine, "We believe in the verbal, plenary inspiration of the Bible. We believe that God has preserved His Word in the King James Bible. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21." You may not find that of concern.

No mention is made of accreditation. One can only conclude they are not accredited. Again, this may not be a concern for you, but it will severely limit the potential for further education.

These are my observations. I would recommend looking for an underdgraduate education elsewhere.

 

I graduated from Southeastern College at Wake Forest (shares the campus with SEBTS) with a double major in Biblical Studies and the History of Ideas. It was a 128 credit hour program. How many credit hours does this "church college" require for its double major? Are they accredited and if so by whom?

 

I checked out their website. It is not impressive. It does not provide any information regarding the school's accreditation or other academic policies. Its faculty section is blank. Who are the teachers/professors? I would stay away from it until these types of questions are clearly addressed.

They have a draconian dress code, I see, even though the description they give is labelled "abridged."

 

I would not recommed this school because I disagree with some of their stances. However, I disagree with some of the reasoning being given on this thread for condemning the school.

First, ALL schools have a theological point of view that they are seeking to diseminate and propagate. There is nothing wrong with this. It is THE REASON to have a school. All Baptist colleges and seminaries hold distinctives that are not held by the vast majority of those who would claim to be Christian. If this is wrong, please work to first close the school that you like and then work to close others.

Second, while there are certainly "degree mills" that hand out bogus and worthless degrees, there is no such thing as a "degree mill" in the state of Pennsylvania. The Dept. of Education in PA is TOUGH and allows NNE in PA to issue worthless degrees. Degree mills operate in states that lack the regulations that PA has.
