For many years I was associated with Servicemen for Christ. I first became involved when I was stationed at Fort Lee, Va. I would encourage you to check out their website. Their new name is now ARMED FORCES BAPTIST MISSIONS
It sounds as though someone you know is now in the Army. Would love it if you would share the info with us. I do have a heavy burden for the military, as I was on active duty several years.

    In Christ,

I served 20 years in the military, and the one mission organization that was ubiquitous was the Navigators organization. Most Navigator missionaries were just plain old servicemen themselves. However, most of the evangelism among service members (including evangelizing ME), was carried out by churches located off base. This was the case even in Germany, Guam, and England. I doubt it would be the case in Southwest Asia.

    www.cadence.org and malachi.org

A bit of a warning though, they are generally very ecumencial, and teach only basic salvation doctrine.

I am former Navy. I remember the Navigators. I also remember a ministry called Navy Christian Link Up. It was a booklet published with news and voluntary names of Christians on many ships in the Navy. For a while I helped publish the booklet and my name was listed for my ship.

    Retired Navy here also -

There were places (especially overseas) called "Christian Servicemen's Center." They were in many of the port cities that we stopped at. There were a few stateside, but most of them were overseas. I'm not sure if they were part of a network or each was independant.

Thank you everyone for your wonderful replies. I really appreciate it. Yes I do know of some people in the service. But the true reason I asked about missionaries to the military is because the Lord has laid a burden on my heart for military men and women. I don't know how and when but someday I pray that the Lord will open up a door where I might witness and work with the men and women who fight for our freedom and be able to share with them the freedom that has already been won in Christ! Thank you all again!

There are a number of those who are on staff with The Navigators who work with the military. In fact that is how they got staretd.

There was a Serviceman's Center on Hampton Blvd, not far from the Norfolk Naval Base, That is where I was led to the Lord. It was about 24 years ago.

Go to IMB.org or NAMB.org and see if you can find any through them.

My church website under missions has some military missionairies I do believe. I actually attend a church overseas (Hawaii) that caters to mostly military (80%). And I know we support other similar ministries with the military. Keep in mind that we are IFB so some may coin us as mean spirited, legalists, and other bad names that I often hear on here.I can't recall the organization that we send lots of support to. Here is our website link below:

This brings back fond memories. I first learned of the Navigators in '82 while stationed in Germany. I had a chaplain, a BJU grad, who turned me on to the group. We used their bridge tract and discipleship booklets all the time.
