Without a doubt, my ministry is and has always been working with young children and giving them their first glimpse of Jesus. I currently teach 4 year olds in Sunday School and volunteer in both Children's Church and Extended Session for church hour with the children ages 2-4. During the summer months, I teach ages 3-6 in a missions type class on Wednesday night and during the school year I'm the Cubbies Director for our AWANA Club, again ages 3 and 4. I teach VBS every summer. Every class... Every class... I tell the children about Jesus, what He's done for them and how much He loves them. I'm also on our Women's Ministry Team and am head of the New Member Outreach.

God has done so many wonderful things in our lives. Certainly, salvation is my greatest praise. I'm thankful for my family and for God's goodness in our lives. We see miracles daily.

My concerns and prayer requests... Well hubby has been job searching for almost 3 years and we're now existing on a very low paying job at night for him and me keeping kids starting this past Monday. We need a job for my husband so we can honor our debts. That weighs very heavy on my heart.

There's so much to do, it's hard to say "this is my ministry".

A praise and prayer request: for a few years I've prayed that there would be a good teen outreach program, a place for troubled teens to go. I had no clue how such a thing could happen around here, and obstacles were thrown up so many times.
But...there is a lady in town who had been taking in a few teens. Through a number of circumstances she's come to the conclusion that the teens need a place, and children's services asked her if she's interested in starting a group home. She is, and is looking for a place now that will donate space for a church and ministry building for the teens. Another person I spoke to is going to head up the fundraiser for it.
    So, that's prayer answered. [IMG]
It's also prayer needed so that it works!

There is a ministry in town called the Transformation Network that helps newly released prisoners find housing, get on their feet, etc.. They also have drug addicts in their, and have a program for single moms and others to get what they need be it education, counseling, clothes, etc. to get on their feet and become self sufficient.
Prayer need of the moment for that is for help on Wednesdays. They provide a lunch that day and have people come in as a means of introducing the ministry to the public or potential people in need. We're looking for places to donate items for the lunch as funds are very low. Kitchen help will be needed again soon.

There is also a new ministry in town set up to help people, but this one is more general in it's outreach. This is one I was going to get involved with and didn't yet, but will be going back up soon. They need more workers, and they need more donations. There have been a number of factories in town that have gone out or moved, and this has caused a drastic leap in the number of homeless or on the verge of homelessness people, families who need food, or medicine, due to unemployment. There's people who have had office work in the same factory for 15 years and now find themselves mopping floors at McDonald's and don't know where the rent money's coming from.
So pray for that ministry AND the families who go to them. It's called Pump House Ministries.

And last but not least, our whole town is in need of a change. There have been far too many corrupt people elected into office or given work in positions of power when they shouldn't be. A lot has changed already, but some more weeding out needs to be done. I have faith that this place can and will be blessed because of the believers here and what they're trying to do, but at the moment a few "bad eggs" are making things a bit difficult.

This is a good thought, I'm going to give it some thought and post when I figure it out. I just didn't want you to think that I didn't see this.

These are great posts. This is exactly what I was hoping for. I am so thankful that so much good is getting done. I did pray for the requests made.

We are currently doing a Bible Study to identify our spiritual gifts and get a feel for what our ministries should or could be. I really have very little clue so far about mine...

    Thank you for praying Calvin.

Nomads wife, it'll make the process simpler if you look around, see what's not getting done, and then do it. It's much more satisfying than figuring out your talent by a piece of paper and then trying to make yourself fit into it somewhere.

Nomad's Wife, what are your interests? God never gives you a job that He doesn't equip you to do it! Do you love to sing? Love kids? Want to mentor women? Bake bread for new members? Visitation? Fold bulletins? Depending on the size of your church, the needs might be mighty! Our church would have no need for yard work, repair or cleaning. We are VERY large and have professionals to do all that but I help our 3 secretary's by organizing the visitors cards for visitation, finding directions off mapquest and filling out the cards for visitation. That's something I can do out of my home but it really relieves the ladies from an extra chore. You can even call shut ins if you like talking on the phone! Examine your likes and interests and you'll find your talent!

I'm really sorry... I feel very inadequate. I am a born-again Christian Conservaitve Baptist girl who seems to be much much younger than most of the members here. I feel that I haven't done enough, yet I really am trying my very best... really. I just feel that I've not been doing as much praying.
For example, I pray in small quiet moments with God, but I can't pray 5 hours a day, although I heard some people can do that. I only can do it in small 20 minute intervals, like in the evening, and in short prayers, like when I feel uncomfortable and I pray, "Dear Lord, please help me feel better so I can serve you the best I can."
But, that's all... I mean, I haven't done anything to win the Nobel Peace Prize...

Please don't feel inadequate. We are all at different stages on our journey with the Lord and we all have different routes which will take us to the same destination. The most important thing is that you do pray, and this is something which can be developed as you grow in your faith. We are all individuals in the sight of our Lord. I think that is so amazing, don't you? He knows you and loves you and has an individual plan for you and for me. Just keep walking and talking with HIM and ask HIM to lead you in your walk with HIM.

    Blessings

    Sheila.

    Diane and Gina,

I know you are right but for some reason I am having difficulty identifying where I fit. I used to do nursery and will be doing that again beginning in September. I feel like I've been in limbo the past year or so with all that has been going in my life. I think one of my greatest interests and desires is to write encouragement/ devotionals for women. Reading and Writing are my main interests but not ones which would appear to come in handy at my church unless I were to teach a SS class and I don't feel ready for that yet - My Sunday schedule is so erratic because I'm out of town at least one Sunday per month visiting my son in another state. I'm also good at cooking and baking, so when someone has a baby or a death in the family I can help out there. Other than these things, I feel like I'm in a fog. I am good at office work but they have people for that. So I'm praying about it and learning through the lesson... a combination of ways to learn what God would have me do.

Start writing! I'm with you there, all the way. :D
Is there a woman's group that meets already? If so, ask if you can have the first five minutes of it, or the last five, to read your devotional to them, pass out copies.
If there isn't a group already, see if the church will be willing to let you start one. If they aren't, nothing's stopping you from inviting a couple friends and neighbors over for a devotional time, right?
I bet you can do it. [IMG] Why don't you write something and share it with us on the praise/inspiration forum? I love reading what other people write from the heart!

My ministry is my husband, children and my home. I serve God by serving my family. I believe all women should make this their priority. God uses my gifts in our home. This is not to say I do not serve outside my home,we do this as well, but only if it does not come before my fist priority.

Goody, goody satan is always going to try to get the born again to focus on "I" we have got to be vigilant and turn away from "I".Prayer is a great ministry.Look around, you will probably see many needs.Ask the Holy Spirit to help you to pray.Pray that doors of opportunity will be opened. When they are dont resist. There are many older couples in our church. Its a great opportunity to be surrounded by older saints.learn all you can, love them.I have suffered from "I" before.Getting our eyes on Jesus, and praying for guidence from the Holy Spirit in every thing will take our eyes off "I".

    My ministry is Pastor-Teacher!

God has matured many disciples over the years through my pastoral and teaching ministry.

My concerns are that many younger people are not commited to learning more about the Bible and Jesus and my prayer request is that I may be able to keep doing my ministry until death.
