I'm in San Antonio and my side of town (south/southeast) has the potential of getting hurricane force winds and flooding. I think we will be ok (but I've bought stuff just in case of power outages.)Please keep South Texas and the coastal regions in your prayers.

I am (& have prayed for you), hurricane winds are unlikely. Flooding and tornados are likely. Board up and masking tape all windows. Fill the bathtub with water to flush the commode ...

Get lots of bottled water.

STAY INSIDE when the EYE goes over ...

I'm worried for San Antonio but it's those one the coast I'm the most scared for. This hurricane is already a five and I just heard on TV that it is the 3rd (just went up from the 5th) most powerful hurricane. By the time it hits the coast I wouldn't be suprised if it turns out to be the worst storm ever. I've never seen one gain strength so quick.

Just curious where is Wolfe City, TX?? I hope you aren't anywhere near the path.

I heard on one of the news channels a little while ago that it will probably lose strength (possible cat.3) before making landfall. Hopefully that will be the case.

I live on the far NorthEast side of Houston, which could be right on the messy side of the storm. As I write this, there are huge long traffic jams on all the freeways. Most of you don't have a good feel for how many people live in the Houston area.....about 4 million or maybe more, and many of them are evacuating. The city is about 50 miles across, plus the suburbs.

I live 70 miles inland, so we won't have any storm surge. I spent today boarding up windows and getting the house straight. Of course, we all stocked up on emergency supplies last June like we were supposed to, didn't we?

Anyway, I expect to be without power for a while. If the roads clear we may head to the inlaws in NE Louisiana. If not, we'll hunker down here. The storm will hit at night, which will be spooky. At least with day hurricanes, you can see what's happening.

 

I hope so too. That would mean SA may not get much...which is a good thing.

Still praying for all in the path of the storm

 

My prayers are with Port Arthur and Beaumont and others on the east side of Houston.

I am on the West side of Texas and out of the path. I've got family in the flood zones, some in Houston, but they made it out last night.

 

They just issued tornado warnings as the eye gets closer to landfall for TX and LA. Praying for safety for those in the path.

They say Rita's stalled at Lake Charles, about 3 hrs to the south of us. Our winds are about 45 mph right now, not much rain...yet. We live in the flatlands and even tho' the ground is very dry, it can flood pretty bad. I'm staying on the higher end of this old house, lol.

 

We of course didn't get anything and am glad for it but my prayer are with East Texas and Louisiana.

Me and mine made it through just fine. No electricity for two days in the hot weather, but made out OK.
