Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon who was rushed into hospital on Wednesday after feeling unwell has suffered a "significant" stroke, doctors say.

Mr Sharon, 77, felt ill at his ranch in south Israel weeks after having a mild stroke and the night before he was due to undergo a minor heart operation.

    UPDATE: (per Fox News)
He is in surgery right now for a brain hemorrhage.

The power of his office has already been transferred.

The situation for Mr. Sharon is dire. His brain hemorrhage is only complicated further by the blood thinners he has been taking since his last stroke.

If he actually has a brain hemorrhage and is on blood thinners, prayer is probably his only chance, Joseph.

    I'll join you.

The next few hours are crucial as they try to keep the brain from swelling.

May God bring healing to Ariel Sharon.

Even with a hopeful recovery I think this will end his political career. It will be interesting to see what effect this has on the future course of Israeli politics.

One hopes that Mr Sharon will survive; more than this - that he will get saved. Politically, he is unlikely to be able to keep the office of Prime Minister even if he lives. Perhaps it is time for the return of Benjamin Netanyahu - he won't give away land to the pallies, more than likely he'll put them right in their place.

    Kind regards to all.

No. I think Netanyahu would be bad for the peace process, the two state solution, and, therefore, the future of the children of the Israelis and the Palestinians.

After what happened with reports the other night about the West Virginia mine tragedy I think that care should be exercised in posting a story like that, LadyEagle.

Sharon would squash Bibi like a bug because the majority of Israelis supported Sharon and the Gaza pullout.

    From your link, LE:

There aren't any other explanations? Like...he's not gone?

I wouldn't trust that news source if I were you. It may or may not be true, but the attitude with which they report it reflects a group that is dishonest.
