(CNN) -- Television evangelist Pat Robertson suggested Thursday that Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's stroke was divine retribution for the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, which Robertson opposed.

"He was dividing God's land, and I would say, 'Woe unto any prime minister of Israel who takes a similar course to appease the [European Union], the United Nations or the United States of America,'" Robertson told viewers of his long-running television show, "The 700 Club."

"God says, 'This land belongs to me, and you'd better leave it alone,'" he said.

Robertson needs to learn to keep his mouth shut. He is an embarrassment to the cause of Christ and to anyone who actually engages his/her brain before opening his/her mouth.

Those who are dispensationalist and believe that God's promises to Abraham, Issac, Jacob, Moses, and David were mostly unconditional may agree with Pat Robertson on this issue, even though he rejects the pre-trib rapture.

Robertson acts more like he has been visiting a medium rather than God.

He is like so many who think they know everything the longer they have been in the religious world.

I agree but others who are not Christians lump us together with him.

Last year I was talking with an older man and he asked me about "how could Christians be so stupid to follow someone like him?"

My question to him would be how could he be so stupid not to follow Jesus? The answer would be his sin nature and total depravity. I have no use for the losts self righteous condemnations of Christ and his Church.

Watch for accusations that Sharon is the Beast and the Anti-Christ if he recovers from his stroke.

Why not? It's not as though he has expressed regret for anything before.

I haven't followed his story over the years - is he getting worse or was he always this way?

The national news showed Robertson several times talking about God's condemnation of them.

I wonder if Robertson is getting senile by the way he says such stupid things?

Even God said, "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him."

Robertson is not opening the door but aids in closing it for those who may seek to influence those leaders.

Oh, i wasnt defending him. I also believe its the fruit of dispensationalism. He is just over the edge. He has done this sort of thing before.

Of course some of you are up in a frenzy of what Pat has said. Unlike many people on this board, the man has guts. What he said may certainly be true.... Israel is the Apple in God's eye and judgment does come to those that seek to harm it or make the Jews give up their land. Pat was also right about the town in PA concerning the Intelligent Design "Controversy". I believe the man is in left field in theology and standards but he has some guts about him and I applaud him for it. Regarding the comments about chavez...I agree they're controversial but you can see that the man is Patriotic and loves America and Capitalism. We as a country need to get away from this multiculturalism trap and become Americans again.

Liberal "Christians" need to keep their mouth shut because they are a disgrace towards Bible Christianity.

You are quick to call people heretics. Just how is Robertson a heretic?

Who does God favor in a conflict between Christians, for whom Jesus Christ died, and Israel?

Why would there be a conflict? We're taught to love and pray for Israel....pray for the peace of Jerusalem. If America turns their back on Israel....then it's all over. It won't be just another Hurricane either. Genesis Chapter 12 still applies to today. God's promises are not bound by time, geography, or dispensations.

He is not a prophet. He is not proclaiming God's mesage but simply what he thinks scripture teaches. If you know anything about his theology he is however a self proclaimed prophet.

One may think he has guts. But it takes wisdom too. Goliath had guts but no wisdom.

How does what Robertson said give credibility to Christianity. His nonsense about the Venezualan leader sounds like assassination or jihad to me. Robertson sounds more Muslim than Christian.

Jesus had guts too. Read what God said in John 3:17, "For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him." Condemnation? Judgment?

Can you imagine the fact that Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary recently hired a graduate of Robertson's school as one of their professors?

Oh, heck. Pat Robertson is excellent value, really. Even conservative Christians are embarassed by him now.

What I find most revealing about his latest bout of crapology is that Robertson, an erstwhile US presidential candidate, makes it sound as if he regards the US as an enemy nation.
