Then stop watching Fox News, Joseph, if this bothers you so much.

Nope. I think I will instead make my voice known and put pressure on them to change their approach to broadcasting. It is called freedom of speech...one of those freedoms guaranteed by our democracy.

Guaranteed by our republic, Joseph. Go ahead. It is your time and effort to do with as you wish.

Look, Jesus never "promised us a rose garden." One of most important things we can learn as a disciple of Christ is how to listen to the critics with grace, and how to accept the beatings of the persecuters with love. When we are faced with such opposition we can take comfort in two very important facts: 1) God will grow us through our adversities (the Old Testament - Genesis alone - is full of examples), and 2) If God wasn't telling us the truth through Christ, then the opposition wouldn't have to work so hard - so when the nay sayers scream their loudest, we can know that they rail against the truest of truths.

Following this supremely intelligent burst of logic, let all us Christians just turn off all connection with any source of contact outside our own family & church! Perhaps if we just don't listen to ABC, CBS etc we won't be bothered by their anti-(whatever values they trash for you), and all will be hunky-dory!

Seriously, do you people think that just ignoring a problem like this is going to solve it? If all you want is to live in a Pollyannaish dream, then fine, but to expect any solution is real daydreaming!

Ignoring the paths of the mainstream media/politics by the Christians of this nation is what has gotten us into the moral decline we now experience.

Nope. But if one is going to have a conniption every time that something appears in the media that he/she doesn't like then he/she is going to be in constant emotional turmoil and that is not healthy in the long run.

One might almost believe that you agree with Feiler and Spong, given the way you like to demonize me. I guess these things just don't bother you as much as being forced to wear a seatbelt:

Actually, they do not, for me personally, since I would never have known what they said unless you had told me, Joseph. You are simply helping them to spread their message around. Only about 1 million out of 280 million citizens of the U.S. even heard what they had to say. Plus the ones you have spread their message to.

At least we know where your priorities are, Ken. Heresy and demonization of Christians: A-OK. Forcing someone to wear a seatbelt: conniption.

"FAIR AND BALANCED" If you repeat anything often and loud enough a lot of people are going to repeat it and unfortunately believe it.

Hey, Joseph, I don't watch Fox News(or CNN or MSNBC) enough that my opinion would matter to them in the least.

    Joseph,

The only thing worse than people spreading the propaganda that "only fundamentalist radicals of the christian faith believe that Jesus is the only way" are the people who say they believe in Christ but don't let it bother them because it doesn't affect them personally. According to Ken H. your not much better than Fox News that reported the story because your continuing to bring it up. I don't know how he equates that but anyway.
I suppose Fox thinks they're being fair and balanced since they did put Merry Christmas on alot of their ads for their station. Also, they did run a phrase that said something like this:
"remembering the birth of the Savior".
So I don't know what their deal is maybe they think they can be balanced by saying Merry Christmas then during the Christmas season have a special that basically cuts the heart out one of Christianity's core beliefs.
True believers as well as true christianity never gets a fair shake from the world. This is why I beleive "evangelicalism" is being misled or misguided by believing that it is such a good thing when the "media" or the mainstream begins to embrace them more or accept them as a "creditable force to be reckoned with" or whatever. "The World" wants a "saltless" "lite" "ecumenical" type of christianity that includes all people of all faiths. This is why I believe people like Rick Warren, Joel Olsteen, Robert Shueller, Bill Hylbels and other preachers like them who present only the positive side of christianity get alot of praise from the press. They may not be out and out liberals but they sure don't want to come off negative. In so doing they are paving the way for folk to be more tolerant of outright heresy because they themselves don't speak out against it publically nor do they make it a chief concern in their ministry. Rick Warren himself has said and I quote "the first reformation was about what the church believes the second one will be about how it behaves" or you could say how it carrys out its mission. So all I'm saying is alot of pastors of some of this mega ministries aren't neccesarily liberal they just sort of sidestep weighty matters of doctrine. At least they do for the most part. They're kind of emphasis is only helping to foster this notion of a misguided definintion of tolerance not put a roadblock up against it. In turn people are being conditioned to be more accepting of false views rather than being dogmatically opposed to them. I would say one of the biggest sins you can commit today in evangelicalism is to be to dogmatic about anything. People are relying more and more on their experiences with God than they are relying on t he Word of God. I believe this rejuvination of the "deeper life" or christian mysticism among some prominate evangelicals is beginning to have more of a impact in churches as well.
All these things are signs of the last days in my opinion. You may think I'm a little wacko but just look at the patriot act. It is a good thing I believe if it is used properly. Just think about this though. Lets say a real liberal president gets into office along with his or her real liberal cabinet etc... This patriot act could be easily used to keep an eye on those
"Fundamentalist Christians" . Fundamentalist meaning those "who believe Jesus is the only way for salvation". Some would say "not in America!". Well the groundwork is already being laid the culture is being changed in our schools etc... for this type of mentality to be accepted.

The news media is dominated by people with carnal minds: "Because the carnal mind is enmity againsr God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be" (Romans 8:7).
They are unregenerates and will act, and give reports on the news, as unregenerates. We cannot expect otherwise. (A wolf will be a wolf.)

Did you see that they had Ravi Zacharias on one of the shows? I think it was the one on Christmas night talking about GOD. They actually asked him..."Where was God in the Tsunami?" one of their favorite questions. He answered it very well.

Here's my solution. Turn the TV off and go preach the gospel. Why waste time watching that crap when you could be teaching someone about Jesus. Next time it happens, that's you're cue to go fight it.
