    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Want more Christian history, evidence of Protestant/Calvinist state-church crimes? In the mid 1600's, four Quakers were hanged on Boston Common by the Puritan theocracy. Religious liberty was gained for all of Christendom by Anabaptist, Quaker, and Baptist martyrs. I'll add that it strikes me...

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

I don't know if Luther and Calvin, and others like them, were saved or not. I asked for opinions on that. I'm not the judge or jury. Their fate was/is in God's hands. I still wonder about this: Can an unrepentant murderer be saved? Maybe they repented of that before they died, but I've found no...

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Sir, I know church history, having studied it intensively and extensively for 50 years. Anything I state about it is fact. Facts are stubborn things; they can't be changed. Someone with deficient knowledge, such as yourself, might challenge them, but facts remain.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

FYI, I have a couple of friends who are Calvinists. :)

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

You're quick to judgement, aren't you? You mischaracterize me. I am stating history on one hand, and my disapproval of religious murderers on the other. I hope and trust you would not approve of those who kill others for their religious beliefs.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Clearly, you do not know me. I am aware of that, and it was an aberration, totally uncharacteristic of the Anabaptist movement. Whereas with the RCC and Protestant Magisterial Reformers, killing others for their religious beliefs was policy.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

The only ones who did not kill or persecute others for their religious beliefs were Anabaptists, Baptists, and Quakers. The RCC, Anglicans, Calvinists, Lutherans, and Zwinglians all killed others for their religious beliefs.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Luther supported killing dissenters. So, what you're suggesting is that Calvin was a 'less brutal' murderer. Calvin was despicable.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Really? Interesting. I thought most Baptists believed in PSA. I don't really care for any of the Protestant atonement theories.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

I used to think Calvin was worse than Luther. I still believe Calvinism is worse than Lutheranism, but I think Calvin and Luther were equally reprehensible.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

    With that I can agree.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

Slavery was evil, and so is abortion. But killing others in the name of Jesus is on another level.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

I'm not buying the 'products of their time' thing. The Anabaptists and Baptists were of the same time, yet they didn't murder others for their religious beliefs, or lack thereof.

    Were Calvin and Luther 'saved'?

I'm thankful for the Protestant Reformation in some ways, but not in others. Were Calvin and Luther saved? Can you be an unrepentant murderer and be saved? Because that's what they were. They and their followers threw off a corrupt and murderous RCC only to become murderers themselves...

How do you know God is real?

Thank you for this. I was raised Baptist but have been in and out of different denominational and non-denominational churches over the years. Lately, I'm just sad and depressed, and empty-feeling. And sick.

How do you know God is real?

I believe God exists, and I continue, even if abstractly of late, to have faith. I am struggling to hold onto an active strong faith. I like to watch John Ankerberg's show, and two of my favorite guests have been Dr. Stephen Mayer and Dr. Hugh Ross. They have helped me to have a firm conviction...

How do you know God is real?

Thanks for all your replies so far, very good ones indeed. I have strongly believed all my life, but now in my senior years, I am struggling to keep my faith. I feel that God does not communicate with me. The Holy Spirit is supposed to be in me, but I feel nothing.
