God's Wisdom versus Earthly, Sensual, and Demonic Wisdom about Instrumental Music

I agree with you, Brother, but most will not.

    Real Angels

Whatever you say, Cathode. It's just another reason I'm a Protestant and you're a Catholic.

    Real Angels

You are granting power to yourself that you don't have. The angels are like the Presidents cabinet, they work at his pleasure, not anyone else.

    Real Angels

There's a chain of command with God just as the military. When you break that chain of command you have disobeyed the foundation of command. Calling on an angel to "sort things out" is breaking the chain! Unlike the military, our orders are to take our requests to the Throne of God. Heb...

    Real Angels

Well said! How many of us would be singing hymns and praising the Lord while locked fast in the stocks in prison for our faith as was Paul?

    Real Angels

There are times when I have great difficulty in understanding why bad things happen to God's people. The Lord allows it or it wouldn't happen and angels have a hand in some of it. I don't understand it but it all works in the Lord's purpose for good in some way.

    Real Angels

I agree with most of what you say. But the angels serve the Lord's purpose not man's. At times all of us face the fact of the "hedge" being lowered and Satan can get to us. It serves the Lord's purpose in our testing of the faith to make us stronger or reveal we are not where we should be.

    Real Angels

Yes it's Biblical. Satan told the Lord he couldn't get to Job for the hedge built around him. But that hedge didn't come from the command of Job, it came from the Lord. We make our requests known to the Lord, not the angels.

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

It's called determining doctrine by Scripture explaining Scripture.

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

There are many major doctrines in Scripture determined by the process of elimination, because there in no single verse that confirms it. Justification by faith in Christ alone is only one of them.

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

As many things are not clearly written in Scripture, there is a process of elimination seen. Paul makes it clear that works has nothing to do with salvation, and in fact shows us it's the opposite of Grace. He further shows us that if salvation is by works it is no more of Grace. Rom. 11:5-6.

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

These works that we do as born-again believers also reaches into what we believe and what we teach others. It will be judged. This is where the local pastor comes mainly in focus but we all will be judged on these things.

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

If man is truly trusting in Jesus Christ for his salvation, good works are sure to follow, they can't be stopped because it's a work of the Holy Spirit through Grace by faith. But at the same time we are to heed the warning by Paul that we had be careful how we build on that faith in Jesus...

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

Doing good is believing in Jesus Christ. When the rich young ruler asked Christ what must I do to inherit eternal life, Christ said to keep the commandments. Christ wasn't saying keeping the Law gave him eternal life, it was impossible for him to keep the Law perfectly. Christ was hitting...

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

Those that treasure up the wrath of God on themselves are the lost who refuse to repent. They will reap what they sow in their sins (according to their works). Vs. 7 is referring to the ones trusting in Christ, that is their well doing. That trusting in Christ is what causes the Holy Spirit...

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

Sounds an awful like Catholicism doesn't it?

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

That's the way I see it. Folks that want something to brag about they did to save themselves. Can't be any of that if we want to be with Him for eternity!

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

Someone will bring up James 2:24, but the wrong understanding of James will conflict with Paul on salvation and works. If you are saved you will have works, but they are tested by the fire of God in motivation and reason. Not all of our works will pass the test. Works are based solely on...

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

The bottom line is that the NPP argues there must be works to get you over the finish line. But what did Paul say? Every man's works will be judged by fire and if the fire burns up the works (the works are not accepted/loss of reward) the same will suffer loss but will be saved despite the...

    New Perspective on Paul revisited

I think Paul would have been sending these folks a Nasty-gram as he did the Galatians. Even though the issue for salvation was circumcision added to faith for the Galatians, what difference is it to make good works a requirement for salvation? I must do this or that to be saved in the end? If...
