My thoughts and questions on "Ten Reasons Primitive Baptists Are Not Calvinists."

Well, that's a start. Correct. There is a general call that goes out to sinners, which invites all men to come to Christ and be saved. But left to themselves, men and women will not obey that call (John 3:19; 1 Cor. 2:14 etc.). The best example of this is the parable of the Great Feast...

What does "The Limited Atonement" actually proclaim? What are the Scriptural Proofs?

What Scripture do you have that supports your view? You have not provided any objective interpretation of the text. If there's one thing worse than eisegesis, it is no "gesis" at all which is what you have provided. A sheep is a mammal of the ovine genus. Is that what you think our Lord was...

    What is a Baptist?

Hello Shawn, This isn't an easy question to answer. The simplest thing to say is that a Baptist church is one that teaches and practises believers' baptism exclusively. The problem with that is that the Plymouth Brethren, and various charismatic denominations also teach and practise believers'...

A Very Blessed & Merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas to all! It is a time to rejoice! Lo! Within a stable lies He who built the starry skies; He who, throned in height sublime, Reigns amid the cherubim.

My thoughts and questions on "Ten Reasons Primitive Baptists Are Not Calvinists."

Well that's a forward movement then. At least I got a few things right! I understand that there is a moment when a sinner moves from spiritual death to life. But when does that come about? At the moment that someone gets a warm feeling listening to a sermon? Or when a guy gets a pang of...

Just the two? ;) But thanks for the insight into the PBs. Very helpful.

My thoughts and questions on "Ten Reasons Primitive Baptists Are Not Calvinists."

I do not believe that anyone is justified before he repents and believes. The idea of 'Justification from Eternity' is quite wrong, and disproved by several verses, most notably Isaiah 12:1-2. But it is quite clear to me that no one will believe unless and until God opens his heart to do so...

    The Primitive Churches

I'm not sure who 'we' are here. I understand it and Fuller most certainly understood it; that all men are fallen in every respect, and they will not receive the Gospel unless God opens their hearts to do so. Fuller did not have a gripe with the Doctrines of Grace; he absolutely believed in...

    Fundamentalism Versus Evangelicalism

I think the answer is 'Believe the words.'

My thoughts and questions on "Ten Reasons Primitive Baptists Are Not Calvinists."

So you disagree with your own Greek Expert! :Speechless:Speechless To say, “For by grace you have been saved, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,” is a tautology. If it's by grace then obviously it's not of ourselves. So when Paul says, “For by grace you have been saved through...

    Fundamentalism Versus Evangelicalism

No. shamayim is plural. And according to Genesis 2:24, the heavens were all created at the same time. But we do serve a great God. We can agree on that. :)

    The Primitive Churches

I don't have a point. I thought it would be good to let Andrew Fuller speak after you and @Earth Wind and Fire had been slagging the poor fellow off without ever giving him a chance to say anything. I know nothing whatsoever about the 'Primitive Baptists' other than what I have heard from you...

My thoughts and questions on "Ten Reasons Primitive Baptists Are Not Calvinists."

That's fine (although other Greek experts take a different view)! So "the entire salvific process, of which faith is obviously a part," is the gift of God. Ergo, faith is the gift of God, along with the rest of the "salvific process." All of God, none of us; wonderful!

    The Primitive Churches

A hymn by Joseph Hart (1712-1768) Come, ye sinners, poor and wretched, Weak and wounded, sick, and sore; Jesus ready stands to save you, Full of pity, joined with power ; He is able, He is willing: doubt no more. 2 Ho! ye needy; come and welcome ; God's free bounty glorify. True belief and...

    The Primitive Churches

I don't need to smear your Primitive Baptists. You do that quite effectively yourself. One thing that Fuller did was to challenge his opponents to find any Baptist who opposed the free offer of the Gospel before 1700. No one could. Your Primitive Baptists aren't very primitive.

    The Primitive Churches

The primitive churches were not mere assemblies of men who agreed to meet together once or twice a week, and to subscribe for the support of an accomplished man who should on those occasions deliver lectures on religion. They were men gathered out of the world by the preaching of the cross, and...

The Thousand Year Reign of Christ on the Earth

Christ is presently reigning in a much higher place than earthly Jerusalem, 'which is in bondage with her children,' and every Christian, in the mind of God, 'is seated in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.' Right; that's it. I've better things to do than try to debate with someone who can't...

The Thousand Year Reign of Christ on the Earth

That's because the Abrahamic and Davidic covenants are fulfilled in the present age. It's not I who says so, but God. So long as you live in the Old Testament and pretend the New Testament doesn't exist, you can pretend you are right, but my Bible contains two Testaments

The Thousand Year Reign of Christ on the Earth

 I didn't commit it the first time. Are you going to try and defend your faulty theology, or shall we just carry on swapping insults?
