"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

"WHOM" He foreknew. There's no getting around it. Play games if you must, but that's what it says. Liberal debating tactics have no power over me. You are interpreting Scripture from a Calvinist platform, whether you know it or not. Every proof text you offer is interpreted outside of it's...

    Calvinism, Arminianism, and Provisionism?

That passage tells us the difference between those who hear and those who don't in vs. 47. Those who hear already belong to God. It's a simple statement when taken in the context of the Bible, simply means what it says. But Calvinism assumes it's system into the meaning of that passage. Faith...

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Hey Van. He foreknew them in time because they already had faith, but were still due the promise of being "in Christ (NT), thus they were predestined to be conformed to Christlikeness, not yet called with the Gospel, yet foreknown. Van, He's called the Alpha and the Omega. Your question...

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Exactly. Up to this point I agree. Now, understanding this, we look at Romans 8:29. It's not a plan that He foreknew in Romans 8:29, it's a people. Everything was planned from an eternal decree. That's a given. But the point of Romans 8:29 is Whom He foreknew. This is where your giving...

    Physical Israel vs. Spiritual Israel

Physical Israel vs. Spiritual Israel https://truewordsbaptist.org/physical-israel-vs-spiritual-israel/ It's about 17 pages long. It's from a Baptist church. Wondering what anyone here thinks of this. There's a video also.

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Physical Israel is a OT type of spiritual Israel. Esau is physical Israel. Jacob is spiritual Israel. Spiritual Israel is elect "in Christ" only. All those in spiritual Israel are "in Christ" as a result of faith and then they become elect with Jesus. Jesus is the One elect. We become elect when...

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

I'm not sure what your reply has to do with what I said. "Do you see what I mean? God could have foreknown them already because of their OT faith." They had faith, that was the point. God knew them. Yet they were not indwelt (NT), or had the indwelling (the promises) (Promise of the Father...

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Van, Peter is quoting the Old Testament. The context of the OT statement is about physical Israel. He's using OT language. Applying that to NT truth. He's using OT verses about physical Israel and applying that to NT Spiritual Israel. Exodus 19:5-6 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My...

    NFL draft junkies start now.

There are mock draft simulators. You can pick your team and make trades. Or pick for every team. Or let the computer pick some or all of them . Here's a few sites. https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/mock-draft-simulator https://www.profootballnetwork.com/mockdraft...

    Calvinism, Arminianism, and Provisionism?

I watched the first video. Flowers says he's southern Baptist. But he qualifies that with saying that his theological understanding of Scripture does not come from any Baptist traditional beliefs. He also stated that a provisionist doesn't necessarily need to believe in corporate...

If anyone is interested. Here are some more detailed videos on Flowers position on provisionism. These videos are longer.

    NFL draft junkies start now.

Alright, there are a few different sites that I like to visit and hear their opinions, not because they have the best insight, but because, as best as I can tell, they form their own opinions and are not easily swayed by the masses. This guy is one of them. Gsling. This resent mock draft, that...

Will Jesus succeed at uniting all things to himself?

Ephesians 1:9-10 having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good pleasure which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth--in Him. I...

    Calvinism, Arminianism, and Provisionism?

Dave I found this if you're interested. I haven't read any of it so I'm not promoting it, just providing you with a provisionist who attempted to answer those passages that you said were avoided. https://soteriology101.com/2016/03/16/answering-calvinistic-proof-texts/

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Hey Z Jesus is the One who is elect. That election of Him was given to us before the world began by God's design, That idea is always obvious because we are elect "in Him". 'not according to works' is contrasting what happens 'in Christ' by grace with works. The purpose of grace, God's design...

"The Meaning of Foreknew in Romans 8:29"

Interesting thought. In 1 Peter 2:9-10 Peter applies OT language meant for physical Israel to spiritual Israel which now includes Jews and Gentiles. Gentiles "who were once not a people", are now part of this "people of God". I think this is a message to the Gentiles as a whole.

    Calvinism, Arminianism, and Provisionism?

Hey Dave. Actually flowers does deal with most if not all those passages, but in other videos. I'm not a Flowers fan, but I do like to hear opposing thoughts on Scripture. I expected it to be old in bits and pcs. Mabey he just invented the term. Kind of like the acronym TULIP came later down...
