shouting, rude mob of “Black Lives Matter” activists shut down the speeches of two Democrat candidates for president at the NetRoots Nation convention of progressives on Saturday afternoon in Phoenix, Arizona.

Democrat attendees hoping to hear from Hillary Clinton’s presidential nomination challengers Bernie Sanders and Martin O’Malley where treated instead to a taste of the leftist activist technique of shouting down other people’s opinions.

The moment was iconic: the Democratic establishment getting a taste of their own medicine, as the Frankenstein monster of the Black Lives Matter movement that they helped create and promote turned on Democrat candidates, including self-proclaimed socialist Bernie Sanders.

Angry, emotional Black Lives Matter activists took the stage to screech that black people are “in a state of emergency” over police violence, a position that has been shown to be statistically inaccurate but that led to violent clashes and riots in cities like Ferguson and Baltimore, where O’Malley served as mayor. As people shouted from the audience at him, O’Malley tried to respond but was continually shouted down.

And when he said, “Black lives matter, white lives matter, all lives matter,” the protesters roared in disapproval. O’Malley left the stage not long after.

O'Malley and Sanders both flubbed this moment so incredibly it was painful. It really shows the extent to which even so called progressive white folks are so often cut off from the narratives and struggles of people of color. To not know why saying "all lives matter" is a problematic add-on to "black lives matter," or to get defensive and talk about how you've been fighting for civil rights for 50 years, even as you rarely prioritize issues of racial justice in your work, indicates that you are not listening to the voices of color our there. You are not in touch with their movements, and that you expect them to love you just because you say a few things about the justice system from time to time or talk about economic inequality. But black folks owe white liberals and progressives and even pseudo-socialists nothing. To not be more in touch than these two are (or Hillary Clinton who did her own version of this recently) is a shame, and indicative of the problem with many (most) white liberals. Their liberalism is a decidedly "colorblind" one, which is to say, a form of liberalism that de-emphsasizes the issue of race and racism, even as race and racism remain key dividing lines in this and all elections, and throughout the culture.

How many of you or any white person has ever said to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, "hey guys, what about ALL cancers?"

I don't think anybody minds at all. Now all they need to do is stop killing each other in such outrageous numbers.

But those that refuse to acknowledge that all lives matter put themselves back out on the lunatic fringe of society... begging not to matter.

You haven't heard anyone say that again anymore than you've heard anyone from the Susan G Komen foundation refuse to say that all cancers matter.

There are just certain white people in this country who can't stand that black people are challenging the white power structure.

That power structure wants black people to be docile and let the police continue to murder them. Black people say no and certain white people get upset because they don't have control.

Black people have decided that Black lives matter and the white power structure wants to take back "authority" by claiming ALL lives matter. But it's good to see that black people aren't gonna allow that white power structure to marginalize them and run the narrative.

So if white people want to say ALL, just don't expect to get very far with the Black people who realize how what they are saying is once again attempting to be dismissed and marginalized by the same white power structure.

And black people don't care that some white people think they are back out on the lunatic fringe of society. Shoot look at all the serial murderers running around who get better treatment than black people. They'd probably fare better with some white people if they were fringe lunatics.

But this is all about control. Certain white people want to control the narrative like they did with slaves. And so they are upset that black people would dare challenge their authority. That's the same reason so many white folks are upset about blacks calling out the murdering police officers. They feel like, once again, Blacks are challenging THEIR authority since it's a white authoritarian system.

It goes beyond the narrow nationalism that can be prevalent within Black communities, which merely call on Black people to love Black, live Black and buy Black, keeping straight cis Black men in the front of the movement while our sisters, queer and trans and disabled folk take up roles in the background or not at all. Black Lives Matter affirms the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, black-undocumented folks, folks with records, women and all Black lives along the gender spectrum. It centers those that have been marginalized within Black liberation movements.

Looks like they are aware there is an internal problem, but I'm disappointed, and not surprised, that I didn't see anywhere in there what they intend to do about the continueing slaughter of blacks by other blacks. It just goes on and on.

They just keep missing the elephant in the room. Pity.
