If you had to travel 1,000 miles,( and time was NOT a factor) what would be your preferred method of travel?
Is there any mode of travel you would refuse to use? why or why not
Examples of a 1,000 mile trip would be:
Chicago, Il - Boston, MA
Chicago, IL - Denver, CO
San Diego, CA - Salem, OR
We travel a lot and with six children (and another on the way, we just found out last week), that's quite a challenge. Several years ago, we bought an old 1998 Ford E450, which we've fitted with a couple of removable bunks for long travel.
We drive to Alabama at least once a year, and to Florida (Deerfield Beach and to the Keys once a year, plus other places.) 0bviously, too many kids to fly, so the minibus is the only way to go.
We flew once and it was way too expensive and we took AMTRAK once and that was a nightmare.
The best thing about driving is that we can stop and look around, take detours, etc. When I was a kid and we would travel as a family, my dad's motto will be, "When we leave the house, the gas tank will be full and your bladders will be empty. We will not stop until the gas tank is empty so your bladders had better be strong".
He was a man on a mission.
I'm a man with a lot of free time. We stop all the time. "Hey, who wants to see the world's largest ball of twine?" "See Rock City? 0K!" What's the point of going if you can't enjoy the trip?
