Isn;t that how the great Typhoid epidemic of 1918 ceased, as though millions died, eventually society became immune to it>

That would mean that one hundred million people would have the Chinese virus. That's a little high. Stanford found about 3% have it and about 1 or 2 out of a thousand die. We need more studies:

Some areas will have more exposure than other areas. Places like the Northeast with lots of people for example. Anyway it is a good thing.

Imagine if 100 million do have antibodies already... If so the lockdowns are a waste of time and a wanton economic destruction for no good reason.

My thinking is the final infection numbers will be like the flu virus infection numbers, not everybody gets infected, but 10's of millions do. And unlike the flu, many people have no symptoms they notice getting infected with covid. Maybe they feel a little off a few days...

If this is the case, I wonder if antibody therapy might be more important than a vaccine. We have an ocean-size reservoir.

I hope those with antibodies donated them.

Something important to realize is that merely having antibodies to a Coronavirus does not mean the person will not get sick if exposed to Covid19.

The rapid test has not been approved in the US and is an indicator of exposure to some general corona virus types.

    Biomedomics Covid19 Rapid Test (link)
    • This test has not been reviewed by FDA
    • Negative results do not rule out SARS-CoV-2 infection, particularly in those who have been in contact with the virus. Follow-up testing with a molecular diagnostic should be considered to rule out infection in these individuals.
    • Results from antibody testing should not be used as the sole basis to diagnose or exclude SARS-CoV-2 infection or to inform infection status.
    • Positive results may be due to past or present infection with non-SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus strains, such as coronavirus HKU1, NL63, OC43, or 229E.

It would be enlightening if the study was repeatable and if there was a follow-up on those that tested positive.

The lockdown are an absolute waste of time. And these protests are going to become riots if stupid Governors don't wake up.

I’d guess you don’t work in the healthcare industry.
Healthcare workers are at greater risk of infection and have a higher rate of death due in part to a greater chance of exposure to virus.

Since many that have the virus remain asymptomatic for quite some time before exhibiting symptoms, healthcare worker may require weekly testing.

At this time almost all offices are closed or doing video-telehealth (which is how I’ve been spending 7 hours a day, as an advance set-up person before the appointments).
No elective procedures are being performed in hospitals as well.

Lockdowns are only as good as the people doing them. If you cheat, you are at risk. As more people refuse to stay indoors, risks increase exponentially.

Another way to look at America having a third of its people exposed to the virus is negative. After all the carnage the Coronavirus has inflicted, we are only a third through this nightmare in terms of deaths and hospital visits.

Even highly contagious flu virus does not infect everyone though...so you can not say because 2/3 are not infected yet that automatically means they will be.

What does this have to do with the lockdown being nonsense?

I didn't know that. Thank you for correcting me. I do like your original post. I hope we are past the halfway point to this crisis, then. Depending on what widespread antibody tests reveal in a month, hopefully, we can go back to some semblance of normal normal faster.

If the death rate is more or less the same as the regular flu, then the lockdown should be ended before the end of the month except in hotspots like NYC. People who want to stay home can stay home. Pelosi can stay home and eat $13 a pint ice cream for breakfast.

It also proves that this flu is very mild and also the death rate is like normal flu.

From the Comments section (the second in response to the first):

    · Comparing covid-19 to influenza is patently ridiculous. In sheer numbers, influenza killed 34,000 in the US in 2018. Covid-19 killed more than that in about 10 WEEKS and it is increasing exponentially.

    · Your numbers are inaccurate. According to CDC statistics, the 2017-2018 flu season was 6 months long and killed over 60,000 Americans from infection and another 20,000 from associated pneumonia. That's an average of over 13,000 people per month. The Corona virus has been infecting Americans from at least the beginning of January, probably longer since many people have no or low symptoms. It has a relatively long two week incubation period before symptoms emerge. So it's been running three and a half months or longer. It is not only not increasing exponentially, it appears to have peaked and is heading down. The current COVID-19 death toll is 40,000 from infection and pneumonia, or an average of 11,500 people per month. These numbers are consistent with COVID-19 being about as lethal as the flu virus of Trump's second year in office. The apparently large portion of people who have no or small symptoms from coronavirus as also consistent with flu virus. Therefore, One, the models that produced the panicked over-reaction by state government were vastly inaccurate; and Two, the prolonged shutdown of the American economy is vastly more harmful than justified. We will suffer prolonged economic and societal damage far out of proportion to a death toll that will be about what the flu produces. The worst is yet to come.

It won't be the least bit surprising if all those who die from the virus vote Dem come November. Mail-in "absentee" ballots would make that so much easier. I wish I were being sarcastic.

Exactly, it is an unproven test that allows for general corona virus types, which there are many, that is unapproved by the FDA and yet people feed off the lies that COVID-19 is already widespread while they unwittingly discount the seriousness of how we approach opening up the country. Anything to feed their narrative...a potentially dangerous quest because it may cause many to disregard the very important precautions we must all take to get this country opened up safely.

Again, the truth is that only one antibody test has been approved by the FDA just a few days ago and no results are in yet. Dr. Birx even said of this ONE test that it is common that these types of tests can give false positives and it will take a little while to find out how well it is doing.

So you guys just keep on with posting these false stories and lies. You are no better than the Left and their fake news.
