Just another reason why I'm glad we homeschool. The school had no right to do this to a student without parental consent. What did they plan to do if the test had been positive, take her to get an abortion without parental knowledge also? Good grief!

Excellent point. I'm glad the Lord has blessed me enough to send my daughter to a private Christian school.

I agree, but I'll take it a step further. The school had no right to do this with our without parental consent. Things like this simply aren't the responsibility of any school. If they caught wind of a rumor like this, they should have passed it on the parents and left it with the parents to deal with. A school is supposed to be a place of learning, not a substitute for parents.

This girl is going to have enough money to pay for college from the lawsuit that is sure to come out of this.

School officials at my high school confiscated Bibles from students in the late 60's. I refused to surrender my New Testament that I carried. I doubt that parents had any say in that, and I know the students didn't. That was in Battle Creek, MI at Central High School.
They have to call a parent to give an aspirin but they can give a PT?

While I agree it was wrong for the counselor to do this. I do not think this is an indication of how "evil" the public school system has become.
I think that home schooling is a great option for folks, but I would not trade for the education both my children receive at their public school.

As to your post, we observe great evil in the public school system.. Even some Christian teachers, are blinded to the overwhelming effort at getting rid of Jesus Christ, at any cost... to me that is great evil, only countered by those Christian parents, that care. Even that is difficult.
The NEA is enemy #1 to children, IMHO.

I am sorry for your experience, but I cannot see how removing soldiers from the front lines of a battle is a way to win anything or anyone for Jesus.
Maybe the schools have gotten so bad because Christians have retreated and pulled their children instead of standing and fighting.
I am not saying this is the case of your family or anyone that has chosen home schooling or private schools.
In the city I grew up in the biggest drug dealers were students at the local private Christian school.
So there is good and bad in all these options.

I don't think the school had any right to do that. They should have contacted the parents, gave the information about the rumors, & let them do the test if they want to. This really doesn't surprise me. When schools started handing out condoms, it was only a matter of time before they started conducting preganancy tests.
Children today are so bombarded with sexual advertisements and TV shows that portray sexual situations (including homosexual ones) that they tend to get into sex at a much earlier age. I just read about a 13-year-old boy who got a 15-year-old girl pregnant. They showed photos of him with the baby. He would have probably been 12 when he got her pregnant. He looks to be about 8. I never thought about sex at his age. I didn't see sex on the TV when I was growing up, and we weren't taught about how to do it in school (let alone teaching it without any moral responsibility as they do today). We didn't constantly see sexual advertisements. I never saw a pregnant girl in junior high or high school as you do today. The moral decline of this country is quickly getting worse.

It's just that when I read about situations like this one, I breathe a sigh of relief knowing I don't have to deal with it with my kids.
