Not ISIS, but home grown terrorists and the right wing says it is all right. They have their 2nd amendment rights. Why no outcry from the right-wingers on the board about this?

At least 16 people were hospitalized in New Orleans Sunday evening,
following a shooting during a party at a city park, authorities said.

The victims were all in stable condition.

The shooting broke out at Bunny Friend Park in the Upper Ninth Ward where about 500 people were gathered at the playground for the impromptu shooting of a music video, officials said. According to officials, a gun battle took place at the site.

Assuming your story is correct, who said that shooting others was okay?

At least be honest enough, when making your point, to post a link...

Crabby - I'm going to ask this again to point out the stupidity of your assumptions: have you stopped beating your wife?

Of course you've never beaten your wife. Just as "the right" does NOT find such incidents as okay or acceptable.

Let me ask this, Crabby: were the weapons used legally purchased?

If you don't know, then you've allowed your hoplophobia to override your ability to clearly reason about any situation related to guns.

If they were bought legally does this make it all right in your view? We go absolutely crazy over terrorists in other parts of the world, but defend the right of people to commit acts of terror here simply because their weapons were or might have been bought legally. Does this make sense?

Don, how many Americans have been killed in mass killings in the last five years by foreign terrorists?

How many Americans have been killed in mass killings by Americans with weapons in the last five years?

Which is the greater thread to you?

A gunfight between two groups erupted on Sunday in a New Orleans park where hundreds of people were gathered for a block party and the filming of a music video, leaving 16 people wounded, police said.

Circumstances surrounding the shooting in the city's Upper Ninth Ward, and details of what precipitated the violence, were not immediately clear, but New Orleans Police Department spokesman Tyler Gamble told Reuters no fatalities were reported.

Asked whether gang activity was thought to be involved, Gamble said it "was still too soon to say."

"We know, by speaking with some of the victims, that there were two groups of people shooting at each other," Gamble said.

Witnesses told police that both groups involved in the gun battle fled the park on foot immediately after the shooting, police said in a statement. No arrests were immediately reported.

Don,can you clarify why the illegality/legality of the gun purchase is at issue for folks who kill others? I think I see the tie in for what you're trying to say in re the 2nd Amendment. Just wanted to be sure. Thanks.

Sin nature is actually the underlying point I'm making. Weapons obtained illegally have nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment. Those that obtain weapons illegally, have no regard for the 2nd Amendment or rule of law. Thus, it's erroneous to look at such a situation and say, "if they weren't able to obtain guns, then this wouldn't have happened", because the simple fact is: Their mindset, their behavior, already determined that the guns were simply the tool of choice, and not the catalyst for the action.

Your appeal to emotion is actually detrimental to your argument.

"If the weapons were bought legally, does this make it all right with you?" is the same as asking if I've stopped beating my wife. The question is idiotic, and you need to stop asking it. You're pushing a false mindset onto responsible gun owners. You might as well say that since abortion is legal, all people who support abortion are murderers at heart. You know that statement is false and idiotic. Yet you keep applying the same logic to your statements about guns.

The difference between legally bought and illegally procured weapons is simply this: Those that will use illegal means to obtain weapons, will use illegal means to obtain weapons.

Also, your appeal to "terrorism" is erroneous. Until you know that this incident was ideologically motivated, there's no basis to refer to it, nor compare it to, terrorism. You're simply trying to connect it with fear--which completely justifies my classification of you as "hoplophobic."

Which is the greater threat? 9/11 was caused by terrorists gaining control over airplanes and killing almost 3,000 people and injuring 6,000 others in that one incident. There have been thirteen hijacking attempts since September 2001. That could have potentially been 39,000 people dead and 78,000 injured. Why aren't we advocating that we stop making airplane travel available to everyone? (this question is just as inane as your gun-related question; I hope you can see that)

Then maybe you can get that across to CTB, because he obviously has communication filters when it comes to anything the rest of us post on subjects like this?

Any one who says there should be no checks on guns, no control of guns. Anyone who cries it is my 2nd amendment right to own weapons with no checks.

Boy, you're a liar for saying anyone who supports our constitutional right to keep and bear arms is in favor of committing mass murder.
