That is terrible SheEagle;

Girls are useless in China; they want boys.

They used to drown their babies at birth if they were girls, until they found out they could get money for them.

I'm not sure which is worse! Neither of them is good.

That's just sickening and horrible! Why can't the ophanages in America take these kids? THere are plenty of people who aren't able to have kids, or want more here in our contry. Wouldn't that atleast help?
This just makes me want to cry. I wonder if it ever occured to those men over there that if they didn't have femailes, they wouldn't even be alive! oh that just makes my blood boil! Human life is something precious that only GOd can create. How dare people so disregard it?!

I have heard how baby girls are not considered a priorty in China because of the limited family size the country allows. This is why we need to educate and promote the Gospel and the sanctity of human life. All life is precious!

I watched a documentary on birth rate regulations in China and legal (including late term) abortions quite some time ago. I don't know if the laws have changed there, but because of population control, each couple is only allowed one child. And since boy babies are more valuable than girls, they often abort babies based on gender.

This story doesn't surprise me at all. It does however make me sick at the heart.

And the UN supports and helps finance these abortions. They, furthermore want all nations/members to help ( financially and politically) support this attrocity worldwide.

 

Here's a question just to see what you'd "choose".
Do you think the unwanted girls in China would be better aborted quickly and with only a few moments of suffering or born unwanted and left to die stuffed in suitcases or in the back of an orphanage in the dark to starve to death?

This policy is too horrible for words. And the aftermath of it over the long term is turning out to be really awful, too.

A social phenemenon is emerging in China right now, where 20+ year old men are now grown up and have absolutely no prospects for marriage due to a severe shortage of women their age. This is compounded by a worsening economy, which in turn is producing a huge social group with no aim or purpose. Most of these men are eventually taken by the Chinese government and placed into "worker communities," where they are forced to labor for the government. Without the "outlet" of a relationship with women, most of these men eventually end up taking out their aggressive frustration by turning to a life of violent crime.

So much for the idea of a "socialist worker's paradise." This is exactly why the government has to stay out of such marital matters as how many children should a family have.

Getting back to the infant girls, many are fortunate enough to be adopted by American families, and there are some excellent adoption agencies that specialize in such adoptions. God bless those families who can take these little girls in.

Pease, pray that China will be free some day so that the people can live and hear the gospel.

27 of these baby girls are alive and hopefully will find a good home. Had they been aborted there would be no chance for them at all.

Murder is ALWAYS wrong! It is never right to do wrong to do right!

Where are all those 'only child boys' going to get wives when they grow up?

We saw a beautiful Chinese Christian couple who sought asylum in the United States because they didn't want to abort their second child.

They said if it was not aborted, it would be taken away at birth and murdered.

That could be one motive for a mother to sell her baby girl, to at least give her a chance at life!

 

Yes, I do that on occasion.
It was meant to provoke some thought, I was suprised not to get much response, although most people by this time probably realize how anti-abortion I am.

By the by, the 2002 law prohibits sex selective abortion, and actually does allow for more than one child (if both parents are only children, to give but one example, they are permitted to have more than one child without a fine, provided the children are at least 4 years apart). Yes, having more than one is considered a criminal act, but it's hard to enforce in rural areas where children can go unregistered (although I'm not discounting the trouble of having to go through life with limited opportunities because of that fact), and it's punishable by a fine. A hefty fine, yes, but just a fine. Not death to the child.

National minorities are also an exception. Did you know that China recognizes 56 national minorities?

I'm not discounting the disgust I feel at the policy (although I have no problems with people choosing to have fewer children if they feel that's part of their duty of social responsibility), and I'm sure it has some implementation problems (as all laws do), but it's not as barbaric as "your second child will be put to death."

 

Kelly, a lot, LOT more happens than is perscribed by "law" in that country.
Have you been there, or spoken to people who ran from there, or spoken to people being deported back from there and heard what they had to say?

I did say that there are implementation problems. I certainly acknowledge that things happen outside the law.

I don't know that it matters who I do or don't know, knowing what we know about anecdotal evidence (i.e. someone else's is always "better" than ours). But my friend's godparents are Chinese from China (and have three children, all born in China after 1979, all registered and legal), and several of my friends have spent significant time in China, doing mediation and mission work (as well as a few who studied abroad there. We've all discussed the issue. So, do I know anyone personally? No. All I've got is from the people I know who've talked to people. Hearsay, sure. But the accounts from people I know are no less valid than the accounts from anyone else.

Are people forced into sterilization? Yes. Are babies killed? Yes. I'm not discounting that.

But I was amazed to find out that it wasn't as widespread as I'd always been taught.
