3 Prophecy questions

    A good portion of the Bible is prophecy. Much of that prophecy involves not only what God will do, but what men and angels will do.

    #1- Can these men or angels change the future if they know what they are prophecied to do?

    #2- Are men and angels truly free if their actions are prophecied?

    #3- If they are free- how is the concept of predestination of free agents a problem?

    1 & 2, I can't think of examples where it was concretely specificed *who* would fulfill the prophecy. E.g. Judas, it was never prophecied that Judas would betray Christ, or how. If Judas chose another course of action, I believe the prophecies would be fulfilled regardless, perhaps by someone else.

    3. because it ultimately makes God the cause of sin, and it goes against the scripture that says when we are tempted, a way of escape is provided.

    Christ's life was also prophesied.

    Does "God have free will"?

    If you deny free will to God for that reason - then it is easy to see why you might deny it for mankind empowered by God to make choices.

    Does God prophesy the future to try and get everyone to help Him make it happen that way - or BECAUSE it happens that way and He can see it like it was yesterday?

    Actually, we have specific prophecy of WHO would betray Christ, but HOW he would betray him:

    WHO: Mat 26:23 And he answered and said, He that dippeth [his] hand with me in the dish, the same shall betray me.

    HOW: Mat 27:9 Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;

    I don't see how anyone but the one that dipped in the cup could have fulfilled Christ's prophecy, and I don't see how he could have done it at any other price than 30 pieces of silver. Care to reconsider your objection to #3?

    whetstone, by that time the betrayal was already in progress. Judas had already been to the priests and had been given the 30 pieces of silver (Matt 26:14-16).
