Would you all be willing to list the five books that, at this point in your life, have influenced you the most?

I would then like to do a series of polls to find what books have had the greatest influence of those readers on this board.

BTW the bible is accepted as the number 1.

1.Love, Acceptance and Forgiveness by Jerry Cook
2.With Christ in the School of Prayer by Andrew Murray
3.What Wives Wished Their Husbands Knew About Women by James Dobson
4.Born for Battle by R. Arthur Matthews
5.Guide Book for Pastors by W.A. Criswell

    Thanks for your input

    Tom,

In case you did not read it in the ‘leadership books’ post I really appreciated your placing John Drescher’s book on that list. It was not much to look at and when I got it I did not have real kind thoughts about it but after reading it I was very impressed with his wisdom.

Glad you found it beneficial. When I lectured in a beginning ministry class and advised new seminarians, I always recommended this little book. Still do, though I do it informally (as on here).

This is becoming quite a list, and it is reminding me that i still have a lot of reading to do.

I wanted to share something a friend once told me.

"Never read a good book. You will only be wasting your time. There are far to many great books to read."

    I think he was right.

I also agree with Rippon. To bad we can have only 5 on the list.

    One last thing...
It looks like I need to read "Preaching & Preachers" by Lloyd-Jones. I think that is the highest rank so far. :)
