7 Months After Stimulus 49 of 50 States Have Lost Jobs

America Now Over 6 Million Jobs Shy of Administration's Projections
Wednesday, October 21, 2009

The table below compares the White House's February 2009 projection of the number of jobs that would be created by the 2009 stimulus law (through the end of 2010) with the actual change in state payroll employment through September 2009 (the latest figures available).

According to the data, 49 States and the District of Columbia have lost jobs since stimulus was enacted. Only North Dakota has seen net job creation following the February 2009 stimulus. While President Obama claimed the result of his stimulus bill would be the creation of 3.5 million jobs, the Nation has already lost a total of 2.7 million – a difference of 6.2 million jobs. To see how stimulus has failed your state, see the table below.

carpro, you are apparently unskilled in the art of Orwellian Doublethink.

Though jobs were lost, jobs were saved because those which were saved actually out number those which were lost.

The rules of the Inner Party are held together by adherence to a common doctrine. In a Party member not even the smallest deviation of opinion on the most unimportant subject can be tolerated. But it is also necessary to remember that events happened in the desired manner. And if it is necessary to rearrange one's memories or to tamper with written records, then it is necessary to forget that one has done so. The trick of doing this can be learned like any other mental technique. It is learned by the majority of Party members, and certainly by all who are intelligent as well as orthodox. In Oldspeak it is called, quite frankly, "reality control." In Newspeak, it is called doublethink, though doublethink comprises much else as well.

Doublethink means the power of holding two contradictory beliefs in one's mind simultaneously, and accepting both of them. The Party intellectual knows in which direction his memories must be altered; he therefore knows that he is playing tricks with reality; but by the exercise of doublethink he also satisfies himself that reality is not violated. The process has to be conscious, or it would not be carried out with sufficient precision, but it also has to be unconscious, or it would bring with it a feeling of falsity and hence of guilt.

I noted this elsewhere on the board, but it's my $.02 that the economy would be in a much more noticeable recovery had the federal government left it alone and not engaged in bailout programs.

Bush's depression is much worse than we thought. We're just about to start the double dip with forecasts that mortgage defaults will continue at the current level or worse and that the average price of a house will go down another 30%.

You'll be calling this the "Bush Depression" in 2060.

Give us all a break.

Let's us see here. Odrama was in the senate and voted for a lot of this stuff. Odrama ran for president knowing what was on the docket. Odrama wanted to be president. Odrama said he could fix everything. Seems all these problems are Odrama's not Bush's now.

I readily admit I lack skill in that area.

But I know it when I see it.

that guy is always confused, bush isn't president, and obama is making it worse.

Former president Bush has apparently disappeared from the face of the earth.

President Obama is the current standing president making and having made several yet to be fulfilled promises.

Yet these current failures are somehow Bush's fault.

This is another classic example of doublethink.

As I recall Gore was talking about HOOOOver Times in 2000 when in fact they were mostly RROOOOsEEvelt Times. At least until a convenient war came along.
