Gotcha! I mean that it seems 75% of the posts here are about KJVOism and it's really getting old and boring. What is absolutely hysterical to me is that it's the same 10 people writing billions of posts saying the same things over and over again. It's truly a comical waste of time! I mean, I think I'd rather watch Star Wars and Batman a hundred more times than keep on reading this stuff. And who else is reading it? Probably not more than the 10 or 20 who keep on writing for and against it. And if you just can't seem to put this topic to rest for a while, "Your thoughts deceive you, Young Baptistboarder!"

    Yours, Bluefalcon

As a veteran of the internet, BF, I can tell you that the KJVO myth soon works its way into any versions discussion board, and stays there. Too bad we can't roll time back a hundred years , before the KJVO myth existed.

And I unabashedly admit that I'm one who posts a lotta anti-KJVOism messages, and, God Willing, will continue to do so.

Then just ban KJVOist from posting. Problem solved since every discussion is turned into a KJVO debate by them.

Once again another ridiculous accusation made! I have had many wonderful debates/discussions on this board that have not even mentioned a version of the Bible. Furthermore, it is most common on this forum that the topics are started by those that are opposed to a KJVO view. And then like always, we get accused of gendering strife in the Body of Christ.

Sorry but KJVOism is a false man made doctrine that is certainly not a Baptist doctrine therefore I could make the case that KJVOist should be banned from the Baptist forums because they advocate a destructive divisive doctrine. This board should have a KJVO section to discuss KJVOism.

IMO I consider KJVOist Baptist in name only. They should start a new denomination and drop the title "Baptist" simply because their doctrine of KJVOism is not Baptist.

I don't know what that had to do with your original post or my response...

And your claim that KJVO is not Baptist is a little strange...I wonder what you consider Baptist? If you search out the doctrines that have historically been "Baptist" you would find all manner of contrary opinion from...Calvinism to Arminianism...Eternal security to conditional security...local church only to universal church...open communion to close communion to closed communion...so what exactly gives you the right to be the Baptist Police...are you related to John?

based on your resoning you have no case to make!

uhm, John didnt not create the Baptist denomination. It surprises me that a pastor would not know that. [IMG]

As a Born Again Blood washed child of God who is MOST decidedly a baptist by conviction and also a KJV ONLY believer I take exception to the idea that I should NOT consider myself a true baptist if I believe in a doctrine that causes me to revere the Word of God that I hold in my hand WITHOUT doubt OR question. The position I hold leads me to trust that I have the preserved Word of God ,without error as given to me in the language I was born to speak....ENGLISH.That same position causes me to not have any desire to correct His Word or contradict it in any way.It leads me to seek to obey it as the Holy Spirit reveals its truths to me....and that is enough to keep me busy from now til the day I either die or am raptured out of here.Thank God I don't have to sift through MULTIPLE inferior translations to get to the truth......it's all found in my KJV.I'm thankful I don't have to subscribe to all this supposed "higher textual criticism" to be doctrinally sound and faithful to the truth.Besides....the "reasoning" and "credentials" of many of those "textual critics" are dubious and in many cases very "secular".I don't trust them as far as I could spit'em.Have a nice day ya'll.

The fact that I am openly against the KJVO myth does not mean that I do not recognize that there are many Baptists, dare I say many Christians, who hold this belief. While I do not adhere to the KJVO myth in any way, shape, or form, I do not contend that adhering to this belief makes one less Baptist or less Christian. When we get to heaven I am certain there will be many from both sides of the KJVO debate who will be there. I look forward to meeting both robycop and Lacy Evans, as well as many others there!

This idea that one is not Baptist if he is KJVO is simply more of the Phariseeism we see on both sides of this discussion. The KJVOs say that the non-KJVO people are not "fundamentalists" and the non-KJVOs say the KJVO are not Baptists.

As soon as both sides lay aside their Phariseeism we will be ready to begin a substantive discussion of the issues.

Lacy Evans: In defense of everyone (all 10 of us on either side), I think the discussions have been very cordial and have contained a relatively high degree of idea exchange along with quite a bit of tolerance on both sides, lately.

While I am openly and utterly against the KJVO myth, and have solid reason to be, I am not against the KJV itself, nor do I oppose the idea of being KJVO bt PERSONAL PREFERENCE.

However, two of the solid, undeniable reasons I have for totally rejecting the KJVO myth are that it has absolutely NO Scriptural foundation and that its man-made origins are a matter of public record, with the reasons its founders gave for believing their myth, as well as the premises of the myth itself being utterly wrong. And there's simply NO EXCUSE for putting down the other person's choice of which version(s) to use if that choice isn't KJV only.

That is why I reject Alexandrianism, and those who try and peddle it.

    My position is a conviction.

 [IMG] Roby..We love ya man..really we do...But looking back over the discussions about this subject on this board I really think the whole thing is just so polarized that the best any of us are EVER gonna be able to do is to agree to disagree....and leave it at that.We KJV'ers believe we have one perfect infallible preserved book that is the "end all" for english speaking people.....and you MV'ers believe that you have the same perfect infallible truths as contained in a multiplicity of english translations as well as Greek,Hebrew, and Latin INCLUDING THE KJV.Our case is for the preservation of the Word(s)....and yours is for the Word or idea without emphasis on the very words themselves. It is an unsolveable debate with clearly drawn lines. My own personal feeling is that this entire part of the forum should probably be closed down and the matter be left off limits for discussion on this Board since all it usually does is engender strife among otherwise good-hearted sincere believers including you and myself.God Bless you.I hope we can all move on to better more edifying things.
