I finally visited NYC (for more than a few hours).

I never bought into conspiracy theories, but those who do should visit the memorial and then rewatch the footage. It was interesting.

I read some hear who think that there was a conspiracy and that the towers were demolished (as in a controlled demolition). But there were no secondary explosions, and the towers collapsed opposite of a controlled demolition.

When visiting it is fairly obvious that the towers collapsed in on itself.

They also have a memorial to those killed (pictures).

There is a concrete wall where they are still trying to identify remains.

If you have not been to the memorial, it's worth a visit.

It’s been a while since I went there.
    Once was enough.

Our county has a twisted beam from the building standing outside of the courthouse as a memorial to those who died there.

I didn’t know anyone who perished in the tragedy but know a few who escaped through various fortunate circumstances.

IMO the fountain memorial is ominous, harsh and forbidding.

Yes, I agree, visiting "memorial" places is important to our cultural survival.

This fall I visited "Veterans Park" in Lake County, California. There was statue of someone with hat in hand, looking at a display with 5 names. These were the 5 veterans who had died from Lake County. Each of the 5 had been born about when I had been born (1942-1946) and each had died about when I served in the Army (1965-1967).

    Makes one think...

I agree it is a one time visit, unless you were family of somebody lost.

It was interesting for me, but educational for my 20 year old son.

This is what I was thinking. My son was born after the attack (he is 20 years old).

The importance of these memorials is that it communicates history and even cultural changes.

We know how it was before 9-11. A lot has changed because of the attack. Much of this can be seen (like airport security), but a lot is more a change in how we view things.
