I wish I could have put this out for all denominations, but didn't see a appropriate place to post it.

Since first coming to the Bap. Board I have seen believers make excuses for women getting abortions, pastors getting divorced, homosexuality, the list goes on. I would like everyone to consider the following.
    NIV
Romans1:28-32 "Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, He gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and deprvity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, Godhaters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they envent ways of doing evil; they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them."

Matthew 7:18-20 "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

Galatians 6:1 "Brothers, if someone is caught in a sin, you who are spiritual should restore him gently. But watch yourself, or you also may be tempted."

We as believers not only must avoid sin, we cannot make excuses for those in sin. Giving a drunkard an excuse for being a drunkard is just as bad as pouring them a drink. Is it not.

Will you not take a stand against sin? Will you not say that God is right and sin is wrong? Will you not choose a hill to die on?

    Fearnot --

I support what you have said with a strong
"AMEIN!" as long as what you call "sin" is also
called "sin" in the Bible. If it is merely human
tradition that calls it sin, I cannot support it.

The Bible calls many things "sin," which are
    commonly passed off, excused: gosssip,
lying, cheating, theft, disobeying the laws,
adultery, and fornication are a few commonly
acceptable sins among those who claim to be
    believers.

    We should all be ashamed.

I could not agree more about choosing to make a stand against sin. However, you only listed some of the "big ticket" sin items that, no coincidence, are part of the rolling inventory of sins that conservatives and fundamentalists usually burn from the pulpit.

But how about the sins that are currently going unchecked in our own congregations? Has gossip among the brethren/sistren been extinguished? Are all of the parents in your congregation properly raising their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord? What is the stewardship condition of your members (are the folks utilizing the funds that God has given them to His glory)? Is there no one in the body who is currently holding on to anger against another brother or sister in the church?

You want some hills to die on, there are probably a significant number right under your nose.

    Amen!!!!!

May our hearts be turned more and more towards the righteousness of our Lord, and be yielded to His leading and direction. May we allow Him to sanctify us and purge the waywardness from our hearts and lives.

    Psalm 51:10
Create in me a clean heart, O'God, and renew a right spirit within me.

    1 Thess. 5:

    12: And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13: And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14: Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15: See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
    16: Rejoice evermore.
    17: Pray without ceasing.
18: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
    19: Quench not the Spirit.
    20: Despise not prophesyings.
21: Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22: Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24: Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
    25: Brethren, pray for us.
26: Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27: I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

May God so bless His precious children.

    A servant of Christ,

The Hill on which I've chosen to die is defending sexual minorities from oppressive legalism and selective biblical interpretation; and defending Christianity from "fundamentalism."

    We all have our "hills."

I do not feel myself worthy to die on any hill being that by nature I'm a sinner... Whether I committ or omit sin that will not change what I am by nature!... That is why I sin and that is why Jesus Christ die for me and for the sins of me and all his blood wrought... grace bought children.

I will die on the hill on the right side of Jesus the Christ... Like the thief that Jesus pardoned on the hill of the skull... Golgotha... This day thou shall be with me in paradise!... Like Peter who didn't feel worthy to be crucified as the Lord was... I too unworthy as I am and trusting only in the love and mercy of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ... Let me die also as history declares Peter did crucified upside down!... I am crucified with Christ [IMG] ... Brother Glen [IMG]

    John 14:
    26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    2 Timothy 3:
    13
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
    14
    But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
    15
And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
    16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

    2 Peter 3:
    15
    And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
    16
As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.
    17
Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.
    18
But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Solomon himself erected alters to false gods in the high places, 1 Kings 11. The kings of Israel failed to purge their land of the false alters in high places.

A little leavening corrupts the whole barrel. A Christian is to stand for righteousness, to not be an enabler, a justifier, or proponent of iniquity.

We must stand against the murder of the helpless, against the practice of homosexuality, and justified iniquity in all forms.

    Romans 1:
22: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23: And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24: Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26: For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
    28: And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29: Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30: Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31: Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32: Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

    Galations 5:

    Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
20: Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21: Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

We must thirst after righteousness, and teach what IS RIGHTEOUS to others, not redefine and justify with denigration and misinterpretation of God's Holy Word.

22: But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23: Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24: And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25: If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
26: Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

We must stand against the alters of iniquity, the alters of abomination, the alters of convenience , and as Elijah stood against Jezebel, Ahab, and destroyed the prophets of Baal, we must stand against the insidious apostasy of liberal compromise and justification of iniquity.

May God so bless His precious children, and illuminate His glorious Word of truth within their hearts and lives.

    A servant of Christ,
    Drew

Funny thing about that AbG. Fundamentalists always seem to confuse someone saying they are too legalistic with someone saying "anything goes."

it would be interesting if you would tell your congregation to visit the baptist board to see that your interpretation and doctrine has been challenged by the majority of Christians and backed up with Gods word. maybe some would see that something is not quite right with liberal doctrine. you have been marked and should be avoided.
i call on all liberal teachers and preachers to resign and leave their office.

I call on all conservatives to consider their own sinful lives before they make hasty judgements of others. I call on them to consider, just for a moment, that they may not be right about everything.
I further call on conservatives to consider that maybe theological conformity is not more important than love. And to realize that if theological conformity is that important, then according to Christian theology they are to do two things first: 1) Love God and 2) love your neighbor.
Finally, I call on conservatives to consider this: If your primary purpose in anything you are doing does not seek to love God AND your neighbor, and is not done with that kind of spirit, I want you to ask yourself "Is what I'm doing in the spirit and teaching of Jesus Christ?".
I am judgemental. I am harsh, and I admit it. I should probably read this list to myself a few times a day. Most conservatives honestly love God, and seek to do his will. All of us need to remember to love our neighbor in this, too.
My love goes out to all of our neighbors here. I hope all that we say and do here and everywhere is done in the spirit of love, and considers that we may not be right.

Its not "anything goes". More properly, its "hate does not go". Hate not being love, its a pretty biblical stance on things.

Is "anything goes" the belief that you're a sinner, so you can't say anything about anyone else? Or is it that even though you see the sin, don't say anything about it because you may offend that sinner and you stand as judging that person?

Are we not to stand for the faith? Are we not to stand against error, and those who would lead others astray?

There are those who sanction abortion on demand, from the pulpit. There are those who would sanction homosexual unions from the pulpit. There are those who deny God's Word, who attack the Pauline Epistles, who relegate Genesis to the realm of mythos and legend, who deny the authorship by Moses, who attack the credibility of the Penteteuch. There is liberalism and denial of God's Word infiltrating too much into the Body of Christ, compromising and justifying iniquity.

    2 Timothy 2:

19: Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

20: But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

21: If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

22: Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

23: But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24: And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

    25: In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26: And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

May God so bless His precious children, and lead them unto His eternal truth.

    A servant of Christ,
    Drew

I would like to thank all those who are standing on the Scripture, and sharing it as well. Yes there are many sins I did not mention, but all equally bad. I was just getting annoyed at some of those topics in particular, by way of the excuses I keep hearing. I am tired of of Us making excuses for sin.

Jesus loves all men and women, He never made up or accepted excuses for any of our sins. In stead He insisted on what the results of sin would be.

I am a sinner, I love humanity, but that does not mean that I am going to tell them they are right, when they are wrong or give them an excuse. I will not pave the road to hell for anyone.

It seems the hills have turned into opinions. There is only One Authority on hills. He could write volumes. As a matter of fact, part of one chapter reads:
1 Then the Lord answered Job out ot the whirlwind, and said:
2 "Who is this who darkens counsel by words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 "Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell me if you have understanding.
    Job 38:1-4

I don't understand your mission, sir; but I'll pray for you along with others and myself. I cannot know the mind of God, but He said that He doesn't change. And, that isn't an opinion! ;)
