A man who is going to stand up for the women on here

I am quite sick and tired of "men" on here who feel that it is their mission in life to brow-beat every woman that they come across on this forum into submission to them.

Let me tell you, sir- you have NO RIGHT to dictate dress codes (or anything else, for that matter) to any woman other than your wife... if you have one. Some of you come across on here as snot-nosed teenagers who have been sitting in the "Amen Corner" too long who need to get their eyes off the mannagod and start reading the Bible for themselves.

If you can't keep your cotton-picking eyes to yourself or don't have the guts to look a woman in the eye when you see something tempting, then the problem isn't Bathsheeba- the problem is YOU!

The way some of you speak to the women on this forum leads me to believe that you must have been raised by a pack of Pharisees instead of a godly mother.

Go ahead now, fire away. I am a big boy and I can take it.

Mexdeaf A lady is well spoken of throughout the bible: more pure, greater worth, "a good thing", etc. I have never met a woman who didn't want to be treated like a lady. What contempt is there in that? You throw around that term "pharisee" so losely and with malice. Describe how your description of these men you slash away at and tell where they fit into which school of the pharisees? Disregarding the admonition to be swift to hear and slow to speak is the antic of a fool. Getting all worked up over misunderstandings is equally as foolish. Why let yourself be so easily drawn into a rage? Maybe I missed something, but as far as what I've seen your accusations are founded only in misconceptions. That also is a foolish practice. Hope things improve in the BB and real soon!

Not sure what threads you are talking about but this is a debate forum. Issues get debated. If you do not want to debate issues then stay out of the threads. Women cannot be brow beaten into submission on a forum. Such a notion is silly and absurd. What gets said on this site adds up to nothing. You can what is said here add $1.25 and get you a large cup of coffee at the local 7/11.

If you do not like others views on dress for men, women, or anyone else then simply do something else. You don't have to be here or participate in any particular thread.

Just for clarity's sake...

It is hypocrisy of the highest order to beat the women over the head with "modesty" while maintaining an adulterous affair. Some of the preachers who rail the hardest against "pants" and for "keeping the heifers in submission" are also the greatest adulterers. I am not addressing anyone in particular here but I have learned from experience that the men who spend their time on those issues usually have "eye problems", and instead of learning to control themselves they seek to control their environment.

This is NOT to excuse immodest dress. A woman should have enough respect for herself to dress in such a way as not to advertise her "wares". But ladies could dress in a potato sack with a burka on their heads and some men would still find occasion to lust- that's not the woman's fault.

If what I have said offends someone, then I apologize, but perhaps you should go look in the mirror and see if it is the truth that is hurting.

I agree with the Rev. While I appreciate the standing up for women, unless a specific woman here is being bashed and it's just opinions on women in general, I see no issue.

I've heard the same from laymen on the issue----"Women submit---blah--blah--blah---its the bible--blah--blah--blah!!!!" and then look and a good many of those same men will have a big ole can of Skoal in their pocket---or a pack of Marlboro---and you look at the men and think---"Man who speak from both sides of mouth!!"

Some of these same guys are the ones who cannot control their appetites and preach on every sin except gluttony.

'I wouldn't be so fat if THEM WOMEN would quit bringing all that fried chicken and apple pie to fellowship.'

It is MUCH easier to point the finger in another direction.

Also I should add- I am speaking from my presonal experiences here. I was not raised in a Christian home. I struggled with- let's just say- "morality issues" before I was saved and even after. It took the Lord a long time to teach me to be responsible for myself and my attitudes towards the opposite sex.

I have no problem with pastors teaching what they feel they should in regard to standards for their church, but they have no right to dictate the standards of my family. That's MY job.

I go to the 'Nth degree' now to train my eyes to look a woman (other than my wife) in the eyes and forbidding that to look skyward or otherwise. And I still fail sometimes (you can nod your head in understanding here if you are an honest man). I work at a secular college part-time and it is tough. But God's grace and His Spirit help me to overcome.

This is a debate forum--thats true, preacher----but thats not my issue----my issue is the inconsiderate attitude taken when issue swings left to right----the name calling---"You aren't saved----you're not Christian" type ------- dude----those remarks WILL be deleted by moderator regardless of who you are----you want to debate--debate then---but leave the smart-illik remarks to yourself!!!

I know exactly what Mexdeaf is talking about as I have seen the exact behavior described in the OP on here, too. While I can agree with the rest of the posts (except for Paul's...), Mex makes a very valid point.

Unless it is your wife (or other close family member), no one has the right to condemn or rail upon a woman here in regards to anything. Some would rather charge up on their high horse and kick any woman who does not conform to his own way of thinking how a woman should dress/act/look/think than to actually engage the discussion at hand. Pharisee is a kind word in this case.

God taught me a long time ago that I do not have the corner of the market as far as the motives and intents of other people go. He has shown me that being judgmental and legalistic are completely foreign to His ways of doing and handling things. There's nothing like condemning someone only to find out that the very thing you are condemning them for is the very thing God was using to draw them to Himself. Been there, done that... and if it wasn't for His grace and mercy I would have prevented some from entering His kingdom because of my own Pharisaical motives.

We should all cast out the beam from our own eyes. Once we do, and are ready and willing to listen to what God says instead of what man says, and are ready to realize that what we think is "high and holy" may just be our own pride and legalism, then we are ready to actually see others through the eyes of God.
