A mind that is stretched by a new experience can never go back to its old dimensions.

New experiences which may shape the dimensions of the mind are inevitable - on a daily basis. But new experiences - whether epiphaneous or not - while stretching the mind, should never stretch the truth nor moral nature. If one is so inclined to allow new experiences to alter the truth, then one is not enlightened by these new experiences - only enslaved to the newness of it and therefore an unstable person.

    Thanks for an interesting answer.

Truth may be fixed, but is our understanding of truth fixed? Isn't it possible that by being stretched we discover real truth that we were not aware of previously?

Real Truth--is a misnomer. Truth is Truth whether one believes it or not.

"You shall know the Truth; the Truth shall make you free."

Most folk religious are under a yolk of bondage called self-rigteousness, aka: one is saved by doing good works. This has always been untrue.

The world has seen The Truth embodied--He was crucified, The Just for the unjust.

The world has not a clue.

    Even so, come Lord Jesus.

My point is not about truth being truth. That is a given. My point is/was our understanding of truth expands and grows as our understanding expands and grows whether it be through reading, travel, experience, etc.

For instance I would hope that everyone the board who is an adult has a better, deeper understanding of Christ than what their understanding was when they were a Child. It is not that truth changes, but we change.

The problem comes in when your mind is so open all common sense falls out.

There is a real worth in learning how to be both teachable and not easily swayed.

In human terms truth is a relative thing. It depends on the timing and situation. Only in the Divine mind is truth absolute. We often fail to distinguish the difference, but then, we are hardly Divine.

Certainly our understanding of the truth is not always fixed.

And yes, the truth can be discovered by new experiences and new experiences should be welcome - whether they solidify the truth already held or expose to the truth one who is ignorant.

I was just giving you another point of view of relationship between truth and experience.
