In order for a Christian to justify abortion in his or her mind one has to dehumanize the child in the mother's womb. And, that's exactly what crabtown is doing. It's not a baby so it's ok to kill it. Got to love that kind of logic.

Not at all, I am only following what the Bible says.

My opinion is no. Dead people cannot be saved. And the questions are not worth answering.

If a fetus is not alive, then it cannot be saved. I do not see an instance in scripture where the Holy Spirit enetered a human body he wasn't specifically invited into.

I suppose I look foolish to those who feel J the B was not yet a person when he was saved, and that's perfectly fine with me, but I feel this conversation is over. My contention is abortion is evil. And your's is about the weakest argument I have ever heard in support of it.

So God cannot save a fetus if it is his will?

The verses you quoted say they are saved. It says nothing about whether there were living in the Biblical sense. Again you are taking a liberal interpretation to the Bible. If my arugment is weak than the Bible is weak. Do you really believe that?

Let the Bible preach to you, do not preach to the Bible.

How can I be adding to scripture when I take it as it says, and do not try to take verses out of context to justify my beliefs. You are taking a very liberal approach to the Bible.

Life ...............

genesis 2:7 --"And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul."
Sounds clear to me. Man 'became a LIVING SOUL" AFTER the 'BREATH of life.

Yup. I don't see that verse as a justification for disposing of inconvenient fetuses.

“There is a spirit [Hebrew, ruach, breath] in man: and the inspiration [breathing in] of the Almighty gives them understanding. ... The spirit [Hebrew, ruach, breath] of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty has given me life.”

Job 32:8 and 33:4

I was born and drew my first breath and then I lived. It is not I that is taking liberties with the Bible. You are denying the breath of life. But, I expect you have not thought about this rathen than have denied it.

That has nothing to do with this, and you know it.

If I am a doctor, and I deliver a baby, but don't let it breathe, am I guilty of anything ? How about a mother, she gives birth, and chucks the baby in a dumpster berfore it can breathe. This OK with you ?

You either accept Christ or reject him.The Holy Spirit will ignore those who do the latter, only by accepting Christ do you recieve the Holy Spirit.

You aren't using the bible.

You are a heretic.

If following the Bible makes a person a heretic, then I stand with Christ and feel I am in good company. If you want to take the Bible out of context and add meaning where it does not exist than that is up to you. But don't call yourself a fundamentalist for you are not. Blessings to you and yours.:jesus:

You are a heretic. In reference to Crabtownboy's dogmatic stance for the murder of Babies.*

I have never in all my day's applied that word to anyone that I thought was a Christian. In this case I whole heartily agree.

*My addition to BC's quote.

I am more than secure in the knowledge that J the B was alive when the Holy Spirit entered him.

It doesnt surprise me that someone who thinks the Bible is just " a book of words" would try to justify abortion. Nothing traditional about that.

And I will defend your right to believe that. But it is not Biblical in the Biblical sense of the word life. They were alive in that their heart was beating and they were gaining nutrition from their mothers. But they were not alive in the sense that they could live outside the womb on their own, not until late in their mother's pregnancy. But that is another topic. This thread was supposed to be about abortion.

Another bunch of nonsense. No baby, even full term, can survive on their own.

According to you, a baby isn't alive until it can survive on it's own.....

According to you, J the B wasn't alive, but yet, he was saved....

I think I'll just let it stand, and let my BB brothers & sisters read what we have put up, and hopefully we've helped someone. I do feel anyone with a brain will see I completely mopped the floor with you, this morning.

This is an interesting thread. It started with the acknowledgment that we (the United States) are a nation who commit the sin of abortion. And how difficult it is to vote for a candidate who is pro abortionist. But somewhere along the line it got side tracked. Now I read all the commnents, out of which Bro. Curtis and Crabtownboy's posts are standing out significantly. While I do not wish to get in the way of your debate, I'd like to ask Crabtownboy to clarify something to me - which I did not clearly seen in the staments up to this point. My question is simply this: Is abortion a sin or not?

Now, here is my take on life. As far as life is concerned, life begins at conception and not when the new born is taking his/her first breath. :type:

Individuals commit the sin of abortion, not the nation.

I hear you Brother. However, I came from the premise as most of the prophets in the Bible did as they interceded for their people. In their prayers and petitions they never said that, "those people did sin," but instead they all said: "we have sinned." :type:

A nation is responsable for it's approval and support of what God calls sin, which murder is.

I disagree. One has to take into account all of the people in this nation, such as me, who oppose abortion and who have never been a party to an abortion and would never do so.
