Senate's Health-Care Draft Calls for Most to Buy Insurance, Nixes Obama's 'Public Option'

EXCERPT

Meanwhile, in the House, Democrats are exploring a range of funding options, including a surtax on the rich and an increase in the payroll tax imposed on all U.S. workers. The list also includes new taxes on sugary drinks and alcohol, along with broader levies, such as a national value-added tax of up to 3 percent.

The Senate's preferred option -- taxing the health benefits that millions of Americans receive through their employers -- is also on the House list.

Too subtle for Freedom to understand!:D

Apparently.

Democrats in Washington believe their supporters are stupid.

Maybe they are. A lot of them thought all this would be free.

The taxing and assorted fees will soon begin in ernest. I wonder when democrats will come clean about the cost of socialism.

We spend MUCH more than countries with socialized universal coverage. Something is sorely wrong. With that kind of spending, results should be better. We already pay for the uninsured at higher rates, since they end up in the ER. I would be willing to bet that we can cover everyone with better coverage and better results for less money than we currently spend. Consider the following, which I saw yesterday while watching CNN. I felt it was significant enough to write down.

Healthcare Costs per person per year:

France $3,449
UK $2,760
Canada $3,678
USA $6,714

USA Rank on:
Life expectancy 50th
Infant mortality 44th

Even with CNN shilling for democrats,

You would still lose your bet, so bet small.

And even though those countries spend less they still cannot cover everyone. Canadians are coming to the US for health care because the waiting lines are to long for serious diseases. In every other country health care is rationed out worse the insurance companies in the US. As far as life expectancy I would like to see how they come to those conclusions. Most likely in the same manner US statistics discover the number of uninsured. Complete error.

As a foreigner in Finland I had gotten health care there for free and it was much better than I had ever gotten here. The doctor told me that the medicine I was taking at the time was something from many years earlier and that he did to prescribe it any longer. He prescribed something else and it worked much better without any of the side effects. They did not have the medicine in the US until about 6 months later and it was 4 times the cost for me as a citizen.

There the research was done by doctors working for the government not the profit making pharmeceutical companies. We have some great medicines here that are not produced because they cannot make enough money on them.

It is a case of capitalism versus people's lives.

The cheapest health care system is to let people die earlier.

Remember the time when doctors complained saying that they could not make a living by accepting medicare payments. Now insurance typically pays about 75%-80% of what medicare pays. I have not seen any starving doctors who have had to go on welfare.
