From time to time I have been involved in discussions concerning whether we will know each other in heaven. Does the following verse have anything to do with that particular subject in your opinion?

Revelation 2:17  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it. (KJV)

If you please, address the white stone with the new name written on it.

    Thanks - Jim

I think possibly it has something to do with the Tower of Babel. Up until that point we were all of one language. God confounded the language so that no one could speak or remember it. Up until that point the language was a heavenly type language given to us by God.

It is likely that our new names are, our names in the old language. Which to us is a new name. I think we would also recognise each other, being that our body is like a glove and our spirit is possibly shaped to the glove.

    Jim,

I am familiar with at least 12 plausible answers to the "white stone" question, but I think it is all speculative.

One such answer is the Jewish custom of casting a white stone or such into an urn and in return the recipient would receive "manna" for that stone. We can apply a spiritual meaning to it, I suppose,,that God will supply a special food to the chosen people, the elect, who has a new name written down in glory.

    Stretch,,,stretch,,,,,,

    Cheers,

    Jim

Could it be that the new name is Christs new name?
    Rev 3:12
12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
    (KJV)
