A question about Facebook

I had an individual say it is rude to insist that a person find a valid source for something that I posted on FB.
The reason I did not post it, was to see if she would look it up herself. Actually, it was very easy to find the info. IMHO- she is very closed minded - and I told her - even if I did post a valid source - I doubt she would even believe it.

So is it rude?
Open for discussion

PS -the individual who said I was rude is not the individual whom I asked to look up the info.

I do not think it is rude. If it were a debate and you were making a point then you need to provide a source. But I don't believe it is needed for posting on Facebook.

No, it's not rude to make a statement without footnotes and links - there are people on FB that would scream for a link if you said the sun would set in the west tonight and if you provided that link, they would refuse to visit the link or dismiss it altogether

In this case, what's rude to me is some third-party butting in the conversation - Salty has never come off as anything close to rude and I've read a lot of his posts.

Thank you 777, that means a lot to me
