leenies said:The reason I am asking, the Bible says, "if a man".

I Am Blessed 16 said:She can't pass it off as fornication because she is married.
The generic term, as Scarlett has already said, refers at times to both men and women (as in this case).
Is this woman a Christian???
leenies said:They are trying to push this off as fornication.
Scarlett O. said:Let's just say for the sake of argument that is it fornication. How does she rate fornication as being acceptable?
Helen said:Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral.
Heb. 13:4
Scarlett O. said:leenies, this verse that Helen brought up should explain it all to her. If she really is a christian, then it should shame her into obedience.
There is nothing wrong with being shamed by God's Word if it creates a clean living in a christian. I've been ashamed of myself when reading scripture and this woman sounds like she is either not a christian or is a christian who needs to be humbled and shamed. Then she can fall into the forgiving arms of God and begin anew.
To tell the truth, I think she knows the truth.
Duh!leenies said:I have a question and I hope someone can help answer it.
If a married woman goes to a couple wanting to "swap" partners, would that be adultery according to Matt. 5:28.

I guess adultery is really bad but fornication is supposedly ok?leenies said::wavey:
I know of a person that is questioning this very thing (not me). They are trying to push this off as fornication. Now, I know it is a sin either way and a sin is a sin (except blasphemy against the Holy Spirit). I just want to make sure I am going in the right direction, and just because it says "man" it also includes the female gender.

Well said, Chemnitz!Chemnitz said:Ok, well I think the thing to remember is that the commandment as it is given in Exodus is given to all the people as 'do not commit adultery.' Since, it is given to all people it applies to both sexes. Therefore, it is legitimate to read in an implied vis versa for women in Matthew 5:28.
