    Out of 100

    I BELIEVE:

    1. When one free American is engaged by an enemy, the
entire Nation must be dedicated to his defense.

    2. When an enemy stalks us, the time for talk is over.

    3. If any country, group, religious sect or individual
threatens America, we must kill them.

    4. There is no need to search for answers as to why
some overseas do not like us. We should not care.

    5. The military is not a social experiment and the
debate ends when one signs the dotted line.

    19. If you are caught in civilian attire, using
civilians as a shield, killing soldiers or civilians,
you are not covered by the Geneva Convention/Law of
Land Warfare and can be shot on the spot. If I decide
to capture you out of the goodness of my heart, you
    have no rights.

    20. If you go on the Internet and advocate the killing
of Americans, including our military personnel, I have
the right to beat you to death if I meet you.

    55. Only the Enlisted Infantry Soldier or Marine truly
knows the day to day hardships of war and the human
    cost on both sides.

    60. Any media person who enters the enemy camp should
be given no consideration when the military targets
    these installations.

    61. Any American, who slips into the enemy camp to
support their efforts, should be targeted as the
    traitor they are.

    62. There is a New World order; we won.

    91. Swift Boat Veterans and POWs for Truth, told
exactly that and those like Kerry and his VVAW "Band
of Brothers" were lesser men than they will ever be.

    94. If you marched against my war, burnt my flag and
besmirched my good name, you owe me and all like me,
    an apology.

    97. If you do not like our President, in a few years
you will get another chance, but if you are from
another country, you have no say.

    Major Mark A. Smith
    United States Army, Retired

    Sorry, Jamie.

I had these favorites stored from long ago without a link.

I'll see if I can find something.

I have a problem with people thinking America is always right under every circumstance whatsoever, and has thus won the planet.

It is incorrect, and mroe athan a little insane.

Too bad those in power don't let the soldiers do their jobs like they are trained - he probably retired because he got sick of the politicians playing footsie with the enemy.

Is this the same Major Mark A. Smith who once wanted to rescue 572 POW's?

    Yep!
    The same controversial character.

The same one that was held in a cage in Cambodia as a POW for 10 months prior to his release.

The same one that was treated for 5 or 6 bullet wounds and over 30 shrapnel wounds after his release.

The same guy who was recommended for the Medal of Honor, but received the DSC.(The Army's second highest award for valor)

    That's the guy.

Is he still living in Thailand and asking for donations for his rescue operations?

    Could be.

He's an outspoken maverick and many people love to hate him. Are you one of them? If so, get in line.

I believe there is some truth in what you say. The establishment military has never taken kindly to Mavericks like Smith and Hackworth and hound them out of the service.

I really don't know the guy well enough to say whether I like him or not, anyway it isn't important. What concerns me is whether he is legitimate hero or scam artist.http://www.miafacts.org/mrksmith_1.htm

His military history is well documented.

It's entirely possible he is both, but as you say, it doesn't really matter.

It used to bother me that people like that exist in America. But thank God, most of them are all talk and no action. Few of them really pose any danger; they just want to beat their chest a little; they'd probably wet their pants if they actually had to confront someone.
