    A SIMPLE MESSAGE

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
    ...
Everyone says the gospel is good news, but what exactly is this good news? What did the death of Christ actually accomplish, and for whom? This is the question of the ages, that must be answered, yet it is a question that is neither asked, nor answered by sincere, moral, dedicated religious folks, be they Parsons, or pew sitters, at any time.

The gospel is a clear declaration of a simple truth. It concerns the representative substitution of a finished work by an acceptable substitute. That is, Christ established the only righteousness that could ever be accepted by God as pure, just and holy through His obedience unto death.

The totality of His established righteousness alone is charged to a people who were chosen in Him before the foundation of the world. His righteousness is decreed to be their righteousness and they add nothing to it, nor take anything from it by their works. They are viewed by God as being in Christ and as such are accepted in the beloved.

This is an offense to the religions of man, for it destroys the sacred cow of man's free will. Man cannot be the master of his own destiny if God is an Almighty Sovereign in the matter, so religious man worships and serves the creature more than the Creator, according to his nature.

The satisfaction that Christ accomplished regarding God's justice in the place of those He represented was absolute. They are eternally viewed as the righteousness of God in Christ. Sinners embrace this truth through the effectual call and revelation of the Holy Spirit, pointing to this glorious finished work. They place absolutely no confidence in the flesh as being meritorious and making up any part of this great work. The child of God rests in the righteousness of another, that he had no part in procuring, producing, or maintaining and it is a glorious rest indeed.

This is a simple message of a simple transaction, so I know you can understand these things, but the question is, do you believe them?

Isaiah 35:4-5 Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Psalms 98:2 The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
Matthew 21:42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

God has treated Jesus as sin for our benefit. Otherwise Jesus would not have been a sinless sacrifice.
