"Cox, who is 20 weeks pregnant, attended the hearing via Zoom along with her husband but did not address the court. Doctors have told Cox that if the baby’s heartbeat were to stop, inducing labor would carry a risk of a uterine rupture because of her prior cesareans sections, and that another C-section at full term would would endanger her ability to carry another child.

“The idea that Ms. Cox wants so desperately to be a parent and this law may have her lose that ability is shocking and would be a genuine miscarriage of justice,” Gamble said.
...
Cox learned she was pregnant for a third time in August and was told weeks later that her baby was at a high risk for a condition known as trisomy 18, which has a very high likelihood of miscarriage or stillbirth and low survival rates, according to the lawsuit."

"A pregnant Texas woman who was seeking court permission for an abortion in an unprecedented challenge to one of the most restrictive bans in the U.S. could not wait any longer and went to another state, her attorneys said Monday.

The announcement came as Kate Cox, whose fetus has a fatal condition, was waiting for the Texas Supreme Court to rule whether she could legally receive an abortion.

"Her health is on the line. She’s been in and out of the emergency room and she couldn't wait any longer," said Nancy Northup, president and CEO of the Center for Reproductive Rights, which was representing Cox."

Okay. This... Is becoming dangerous. These conservative Christians need to stop with the ideological purity. Cases like this are happening where pregnant women are being put at risk. This is so extreme. Texas needs to be more reasonable about this. Let the judge grant the woman an abortion.

I'm not a Democrat by any means but if this is the way conservatives are going to start acting, I'm out.

I understand that it is a noble cause to create a culture of life and a state that reduces or limits abortion. I can appreciate the aspiration to treat life as sacred. Because life is sacred. But why is the heavy hand of authoritarianism being mixed into Texas abortion policy? Because that's what this is. It's a policy with no heart and no understanding of how complicated pregnancy can be. Texas is divorced from reality.

I wish we could live in a world where the liberal doesn't fight for abortion as a "right" and where the conservative understands that abortion is a necessary evil that must be permitted to exist in a fallen and broken world.
