    Dearly beloved anti-war protesters,

as the imperial and all-merciful ruler of the Great Republic of Iraq, I would like to express to you my heartfelt thanks for protesting against Allah's enemy in Washington. With your protests for what you call "peace" you have sanctioned and confirmed my benevolent regime and the sacred, oily interests that I have not only in Iraq but in all surrounding Arab regions (esp. Kuwait). May Allah bless you for your protests in all major cities because ye have demoralized and weakened our great enemy who boasts and threatens to invade our country. Althouh ye protesters are mostly infidels, you showed true submission to the law of Allah and true submission to his anointed king and ruler Saddam Hussein, my own self. I rule this Republic of Iraq in the spirit and power of my great hero of Babylon, king Bebuchadnezzar.
Thank you for marching through the streets of Rome, Berlin, London, Washington and San Francisco for ye all marched for the prosperity and peace of the Iraqi Republic which I rule.
I commend the leaders of France for their support of my benevolent regime and the sacred relationship of business which we gladly entertain. Thanks be to the universities and colleges which foster anti-American views so that our enemy in Washington will be further weakened and a young generation will be raised who will submit to my benevolent rule of mercy in the great Republic of Iraq. Thanks be to the friends at the UN who support us and hinder any American advance.

Praise be to Allah and His Holy Prophet Mohammed.

    Long live the King,

    S. Hussein
His Majesty and Merciful Ruler of Iraq

P.S: There is a new spelling for France's Prime Minister Chirac. It goes: Shhh-Iraq!
    More on this subject ...

I find it interesting, that with the scope of the world's population, such a few number of the populus of the world actually demostrated against the on coming war with Iraq. [IMG]

Some of the protesters are silly. Granted.

But the evidence against Saddam, as opposed to North Korea, is slim. We're supposed to swallow everything the president feeds us, right?

Iraq is a secular state - I doubt he would be writing about Allah in his letters

Iraq is no more a "secular" state than . . .

I've travelled in Turkey, which actually DOES declare itself "secular" state. But the influence of Islam is pervasive.

Never saw a muslim-dominated country that was truly "secular".

If the President would present clear evidence that Iraq either:

    1) was behiind 9/11

    or

    2) has the ability, desire, and intention to attack the land of the USA

then the American people would be solidly behind a war. I certainly would.

So, I agree with RSR, where's the evidence?

When we vote a president into office, we then need a certain amount of faith that he is doing things in our best interest. If it comes out that he didn't, then we can turn on him. He has not shown that the latter is the case, so we should support the man we elected into office with our full backing.

It is not fair to demand to see "evidence" when that can be a security problem etc. That's why we have a republic and not a democracy in which the general public makes all the decisions.

We should follow our leaders, not question every act they do when they have not created doubt.

I agree with your assesment that we are a Republic, not a Democracy. Very important.

That's why we have a writted Constitution, and why the leaders are supposed to be legally bound to follow it.

And that's why in the Constitution it says that Congress must declare war. Because, war is a serious thing...killing and being killed. Congress is to be the elected voice of the people in this matter.

But we apparently have a king.

Doesn't it seem to you that something of the magnitude that requires WAR would be a big enough thing that it couldn't be a secret?

(CBS) In an exclusive interview with CBS News Anchor Dan Rather, Saddam Hussein denied his al-Samoud missiles were in violation of U.N. mandates and indicated he will resist demands that he destroy them.

    Is this evidence???

Yes, it is a republic. Iraq has a constitution. But the power is not given to the people, and there is no separation of powers, as there is in our own Constitutional, bicamoral and trilateral system.

What keeps Saddam Hussein in power is that the President is voted in by a 2/3 majority of the Revolutionary Command Council, members of which come from the Regional Command Leadership of the Ba'th Party, who pledge loyalty to Saddam, not to the Constitution. The Revolutionary Command Council members are not elected by the populus. Since any formal political activity must be sanctioned by the government, it is virtually impossible for the populus to vote Saddam out of office.

    Evidence of what?

al-Samoud missiles are not the slightest threat to the USA. War should be for self-defense. We should not be the aggressors.

Would you support a military strike against any country who doesn't follow what the UN tells them to do?

PA Jim, you know I highly respect your opinions. I was on a rant about Congress being the only Constitutional body to declare war, also. But I found out two things:

    1) Congress enacted the War Powers Act.

    2) Reason being, they don't have to Officially Declare War by doing this.

    REASON? International treaties, trade, etc.

Now read the fine print on any of your insurance policies. Benefits won't be paid for "acts of war." By not officially declaring war, this is the loop hole in the event of loss of property, life, etc.

Of course, if things get bad enough & there are enough losses & casualties, we won't get paid if we get sick, our house or car or property gets destroyed, or we lose life. So it will be a moot point. (And this could be one other factor in turning us into a 3rd world country eventually.) [IMG]

But maybe you already know this. Just my 2 cents.

    She Eagle,

I think that war is a very serious thing. Life is very precious, and when a war is started people are in the position of ending each others lives.

For this reason our wise founders put war-making power in the hands of the representatives closest to the people, and perhaps in the most difficult place to get agreement.

War should be reserved for something that is so clear that there is little or no question. A self-defense last resort. NOT "geopolitical measures" or "national interest".

    -PA Jim

I think we should close our borders. Kick out any illegel aliens, too. Call our military home. Refuse to send any more of our money over seas in the form of grants. Use that money to develop sustainable energy. Shield ourselves. Let the other nations fend for themselves. We have resources to take care of ourselves. Let the rest of the world have it's way. Leave them alone. Keep our Technology and developments to ourselves. Send the UN off of our shores. Give the rest of the world what they want. Lets get out and stay out of their affairs. They don't want our advise and influence. They dont get our aid either.

That would solve the whole war issue
insulate ourselves from the rest of the world
    [IMG]

NOT. We are the strongest nation in the world. If we pulled out and said fine we do not want to deal with this, then we would still be wrong in the eyes of the same countries who are complaining about us. Protect our security.
