Win and then come home. We are not going to allow Iraq become another Vietnam.

Well, I have now a little less than a year left on my enlistment. And I'll say this much: One if my childhood best's buddies is in Iraq now. Other fellow soldiers scattered about. I want to see our boys come home. You never begin a mission without an end in mind.

I pray the Iraq people can realize the gifts they have been given and run with it. God give us victrory, and bring our boys home sooner than expected. Iraq has got to learn how to stand on its own to legs. And I pray for the President.

Iraq now needs to handle its own problems as sovereign free nation.

 

The US president declared victory years ago....we're waiting to come home....

This time our puppet government will stand on its own without being propped up, yeah?

In both wars the US is an invading/occupying force. In both wars, the US depended/is depending on ambivalent native troops to take over a war against its own people.

The situation might have been avoided if the folks running the war had foreseen the need to maintain civil order once Hussein's government fell (who knew?). Instead, iirc, they laughed at the idea of paying the troops and cops willing to defect. Their "no Ba'athist" policy, while admirable in its idealism, excluded most the experienced, capable civil servants with no, zero, transition period.


Iraq is not a sovereign free nation - it's an occupied nation in the throes of civil war, beseiged by terrorists.

 

The Democrats keep painting this awful picture of what is in their minds. It is too bad that the Republicans caved and started calling for reports from the President. It reminds one of the old "me-too" Republicans of the 1950s.

We are going to stay as long as necessary unless the Democrats win the elections next year, which I pray that they lose very badly.

The Democrat Party is sick. Their platform calls for unfettered abortion and has for many decades. Secondly, the Democrat Party is split between the peace-at-any-price-at-any-time crowd and the ever-diminishing number of Democrats who want to fight for our freedom.

There is no schedule in war.

The Democrats insisted upon withdrawal from Viet Nam after they gained power from Watergate and then doublecrossed the South by not helping in the face of what came to be a communist bloodbath that is still going on to this day.

You would think that a party responsible for abortion, the compromise in Korea leading to a nuclear North Korea, the doublecross of Americans at the Bay of Pigs, and the doublecross in Viet Nam would go out of business because of a bad reputation. Added to the sexual infidelity of FDR, JFK, and Bill Clinton, it would seem that the Democrats have put a lot of playboys in the White House and they ought to stop holding them up as role models.
