A Wonderful Word

The Lord Jesus said, "because I live, you will live also" (Jn 14:19). What a wonderful word that is! Because He lives, we will live. Death is a defeated enemy. Thanks to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead we no longer need to fear death.

Paul said:

"O Death, where is your victory? O Death, where is your sting?" 1Cor 15:55, Hos 13:14

Death has no victory over the child of God, nor does it have any sting. For the child of God death is, in fact, a grace. Thats right. For the child of God death is a grace. How? Because the moment these physical bodies die we, ourselves, are in the very presence of God Himself (see Phil 1:21-24, 2Cor 5:8, 2Tim 4:6). Where He is, there we will be with Him for all eternity (Jn 14:1-3). Then one day soon we will return with the Lord and our bodies will be raised. At that great moment our bodies and spirit will reunite in great triumph (1Cor 15:51-54, 1Thess 4:13-18). We will live in new, resurrected bodies for all eternity. Where? In God's presence, the Bible makes very clear that God will create a new heaven, a new earth, and a new jerusalem and will dwell with His people there.

That is a wonderful word of hope in a world trapped by terrorism, war, crime, disease, politics, and natural disasters. We have hope in the Lord.
