....Gaza was on the brink of civil war as Hamas fighters overran key security strongholds of Abbas's rival Fatah faction across the territory, where at least 108 people have been killed in an explosion of bloodshed in less than a week.
"I have issued the following decree," presidency secretary general Tayeb Abdelrahim read from Abbas's announcement.
"The dismissal of prime minister Ismail Haniya... the proclamation of the state of emergency in all the Palestinian territories because of the criminal war in the Gaza Strip, the taking over of the security services of the Palestinian Authority, the military coup and the armed rebellion by outlaws."
But Hamas immediately dismissed the declaration as "practically worthless."
Abbas's announcement ends three months of fractious power-sharing between his secular Fatah party and the rival Islamist Hamas, locked for months in a deadly feud that has seen more than 260 people killed since December.
Abbas also appointed an emergency cabinet and will call for new elections "as soon the situation allows," Abdelrahim said....

Are the so called Palestinians capable of self rule?

Historically not and apparently still the same.

Here's a couple of sobering thoughts....

Our money & weapons sent over to support Fatah are now in terrorist's hands. And there's C.I.A. lists of folks working with us who won't last, once those files are discovered.

Bush & Condi have really fixed that region, eh ?

Yep. The Road Map from Hell (as I have always called it), is a dismal failure, as I predicted.

Well, they've got them now, reportedly.

As an aside: Obadiah verse 10 regarding Esau: "For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever."

The Hebrew word for violence in that passage is khamas. Although the book of Obadiah was written thousands of years ago, it is as up-to-date as today's (and tomorrow's) headlines. End Times Prophecy rocks. :)

Didja see who the new pres is ? None other than Shimon Peres. Remember the Oslo Accords ? They worked well, eh ? He was also a major player in this land for peace farce. When will we learn that a Nobel Peace Prize is a bad credential for a leader to have ?

Yup.

About as well as anyone before them or anyone likely to follow them.

We should have allowed Israel to fix it.

I have tried, beyond good reason, to support Bush & the global war on terror, but things like this seem to tell me he's not worthy of support. I'm one of his last fans, I guess. I wish he was half as concerned about this area as he was Iraq. And since there is no oil in Gaza, why wouldn't I assume this is the reason he's doing nothing ?

The "land for peace" policy is 40 years old and they are no closer to a resolution than they were when the Arabs refused the first deal 40 years ago.

There will be no peace in that region until the Lords return. So many folks claim that the latest "peace initiative" or "peace talks" is finally gonna work. But it is not.

Amen to that. What a waste of American tax dollars to try and change what has been ordained.
