The ABC 9-11 show . . . is much better than I expected it would be.

It shows enough historical accuracy to make it scary.

Sandy Berger was portrayed as the whimpering indecisive fool I would expect a forgetful thief to be.

No wonder he wanted to steal his notes back.

Except that that was one of the "fictionalized" scenes - it didn't happen, but now those who saw the dramatization will believe it did and will point & smirk.

There was a team ready to snatch Osama. The Clinton administration decided it was too 'risky' if the operation failed. That is open source. Whether or not they included Americans on foreign soil, Clarke would not be able to legally confirm or deny . . .

The commander of the Northern Alliance was later killed by a 'news reporter'.

Osama Bin Laden then killed 5 of the next 6 reporter teams that came to see him . . . wonder why . . . Do you wonder which news channel he continued to trust?

As for Richard A. Clarke . . . former counter terrorism czar . . . great title for a communist. If he had access to any information. And he confirmed operational plans . . . he just revealed classified information - that is not open source.

For your information . . . Americans have been operating in that part of the world for over 50 years trying to build relationships. It could be that one of the CIA operatives from that era was helping to write what you depict as fiction. Clinton reduced the budget for CIA operatives around the world. To be fair to President Clinton - other presidents did lower budgets at different times. But, from what I understood - President Clinton's reducing CIA operatives around the world angered some of the operatives.

    Again, I only use open source . . . . And I would never trust a source that would reveal classified . . .

I didn't say it actually happened and I know it is a "conflation" but, according to witnesses to the actual events, it accurately portrayed Berger as indecisive and a wimp.

We already know he's a sneak and a thief. Why would anyone have a hard time believing he's an indecisive sycophant?

Now I have to wonder what the terrorists plan to do next?

They have attacked targets at least 20 times in the last 5 years . . . . Not counting the previous: Cole, embassies, and even killing other muslims.

Really makes me wonder what will be next.

They are continuing daily to attack America. Think of the poor fireman and workers at the twin towers who are now paying for their heroism with their health,,,,,,,,,,and fighting to get health benefits.

The most valuable film I saw yesterday were the interviews of the victim's spouses and children, and how they are coping with life now. I don't care to see replays of the despicable deeds anymore than I want to see the bombing of London during the war replayed.

    Cheers,

    Jim

I thought the show was pretty good. It did not portray Richard Clarke in a bad way at all, I thought he came off as a hero. Doesn’t he work for ABC now?

The idea of hero’s in the field being hampered and limited by indecisive desk jockey’s back in Washington is not new you know. Not only does it make good movies it is also true sometimes.

    Almost dead on.

Sunday Night Football was tops in the ratings with 20.7 million viewers; Path averaged 13 million viewers. The Simpsons (woo-hoo) had 11.5 million viewers, beating out the CBS documentary on 9/11. Plus, the History Channel and Discovery had 9/11 shows.

At this point, it would be hard to imagine a new fact that TV can present about 9/11 that Frontline on PBS hasn't already had ...

Maybe it would help to move back to the OP and ask those that actually watched it to respond . . .

    ;)

Actually, my post was on topic. I don't watch network T.V. I don't watch corporate re-plays of American tragedy. No matter who says it's correct.

And besides, you care nothing about throwing a monkey wrench into threads around here, so.....

    physician, heal thyself

I appreciate your veiled compliment. However, I am not Jesus.

But, thank you for thinking of me as highly as you do of Our Lord.

I did not expect them to include the assassination of the Northern Alliance Commander.

They followed a couple of the terrorist protocols for their attack better than I thought a TV series would.

I wonder who they utilized for technical advice?

No, you just post like you are.

Wrong again. With all due respect, I consider you one of the more intellectually dishonest folks here.

Whatever it is that you think I have done to you - I apologize.

You struggle with English, the Word of Jesus, and you attack integrity . . .

As I said, thank you for treating me with the same respect that you treat the Lord Himself. You speak of me with the same regard that you misused the Words of Christ: "physician, heal thyself"

Whatever it is that you think I have done to you - I apologize.

    Peace? :1_grouphug:
